We made a preseason top 25

Just checked out Collegefootballnews.com as they run their way too early countdown of next year's top teams, and came in at #21. Probably the first and only prognostication I've seen that had us that high....

it comes to the preseason ranking.UT has been ranked
hi and fallen far.We have been under estimated by as

ranking are more rhetoric from news sources,

while preseason CFB rankings are basically meaningless...pre-preseason CFB ranking are totally useless but they do give us something to talk about.

The only reason I do like being ranked in the preseason is that the magazines tend to give more space to the teams in the top 25. Gives me more to read and keeps me appeased till the actual season gets here, lol. But, truthfully, i agree. I would much rather be underestimated, (1998, for example).

Their coaches might be. The good teams already got us. I'd like to get a little payback at some point.

I personally hate preseason polls and wish they wouldnt even have one until mid October during the season. Rankings at the end are all that matters all others are for people like May, Herbstreet, Holtz, etc. to rationalize having jobs.

I think our defense alone should keep us in the top 20 this year. If Lane can get some good QB play out of our boys we could make a few Bama and/or Florida fans shed some tears this year.

Bammer was not preseason ranked in 2008.....

I personally think the preseason ranking's need to be done away with. We have seen to many team's over the year's be ranked to low or not at all & not be able to make a BCS bowl because they had to far to climb or have to many overrated team's because everyone is going based on what happened the previous year.

But imo i think 21st is a good spot for us to start out as. We are def a top 25 team, it will all depend on QB play to determine if we can consistently stay in the top 20.

rankings really only matter if ur competing for a national championship or to break a 3 way tie in a conference.
