Didn’t mean to interrupt everyone’s pity party but man, some of these posts I keep seeing are absolutely comical.

It’s like ya’ll weren’t bragging about how good Tennessee looked a month ago but now they’re overrated. Rick Barnes is all the sudden a bad coach even though he’s the best we’ve had in a long time. But hey, we could still have Counzo right now.

We got beat by the #13 team in the country on their home floor by two. LSU played well and fought hard until the end.

Turner took a bad shot and Grant fouled the LSU player going for the ball. The officiating was once again, awful. Unfortunately we lost. Sh*t happens.

We have a good coach and a good team.

Yes we have a lot to improve on and I’m confident Rick Barnes will figure it out.

Put this game behind us.

Totally agree with the overreaction but the only thing I’ll say is that this is not the same #13 team in the country. They didn’t have their best player and their second best player scored 1 point. That’s why I’m frustrated. Very tough envionrnment but no reason to lose this game imo. We had it and blew it. Just a tough one to swallow

Interesting how you left out how LSU beat us without their best player.

It’s also okay for us to overreact the hour after a game we lost by fouling 80 feet from the goal. Dumb loss.

We will put this game behind us but we can whine and moan for at least a day. Some of us care more than others. Some of us need more hobbies I guess.

Not sure why nobody wants to give credit to our defense as a reason Reid scored one point. People act like he didn't play today. Grant didn't play well either for the first 30 minutes or so. And Alexander got in foul trouble early. And Bone was sick.

Waters backup played of his mind, so I have a hard time believing it made as much difference as some are making out.

would have LOVED to seen more zone in the second half. If you can't stop dribble penetration then you have to go to a zone. Hard to believe we let one player make the same move time and after time and never stop it. Too many boneheaded plays at the end didn't help, either..

Yeah, despite officiating going against us (as expected?), I thought both teams played a good game. LSU just has a way of being in the game at the end. It could have gone either way, and was very unfortunate we have that foul at the end.

Actually, I feel that this game showed that we have our focus back, if anything.

These guys just lost to UF. We beat UF twice. This team is trending in the wrong direction at the wrong time. They did not play real good against USC at home.
They should have beat a bad Vandy team by 30 pts. instead of 12. The UK game will tell if the Vols can turn this around.

Totally believe in Rick Barnes and realize what he has done for this program. But at the same time I do not feel this team is as good as it was last year at this time. We were much better defensively last year. And any chance of winning championships rests on your defense.

I agree. Barnes is a good coach and he'll get us playing the way we were back in February again.

We are a very good team and I think a lock to play the second weekend of the tournament. I was hoping for the third weekend and I honestly just don’t see it right now. It does depend on matchups but eventually we will hit a UNC, KY, Duke, LSU, etc. Our D just isn’t strong enough this year. In those unfamiliar arenas you’ll have a poor shooting game at some point and that’s when you need the D. That doesn’t at all mean it’s a bad year and it’s nice to have expectations. No matter what we’ve done well to this point.

Yeah but maybe Waters playing out of his mind should also be accredited to our defense....or lack thereof

I agree with your comments but the reason LSU sustains during games is because of better talent.

I think we finally did stop it near the end. I believe Alexander blocked it at least twice...but yeah, we allowed it too many times.

UF has been playing very well lately.

They’re not the same team we played before.

Totally with you about our defense. I think that was the main reason. They played him great. But that still doesn’t change the fact that he scored 1 point. If grant scores 1 point i would best most on here and around the country would asume we lose the game and we probably would. We let other players beat us who have no business putting up big numbers. Of course it’s not the end of the world but it’s hard to swallow. No other way to put it

Certainly could be attributed to our defense, my point was simply I don't believe LSU lost much production with Waters out because of those big numbers Smart put up. It's hard to say what might have happened. It's not like anyone expected us to shut down Reid. I say all that just to say I'm not willing to concede that we get blown out had Waters played.

When was the last time Alexander was relevant in a game? He has a few moments here and there but for the majority of most games he is MIA which puts that much more pressure on Williams/Schofield. Our guard play has been non existent so teams double Williams and force others to score. We have played two teams that can rebound and score. We don’t seem to be able to do both at key moments vs. good teams

Smart went for 30 so I wish Waters would have played.
