That's to continue the streak against Kentucky.

I'm old enough to remember the last 2 times we lost to Kentucky. I was at the last one and listened to the one before that on the radio.

I've lived in Kentucky most of my life, but did graduate from UT. I hate Kentucky Football. Ever since they got rid of Fran Curci they've thought they had a heck of a football team because they beat Louisville or Vandy. A winning football season in Big Blue land is Vandy, Ole Miss, Miss State, and Louisville.

I hope some how some way we'll be able to play 1 game this year like Vols and it's the Kentucky Game. It is pitiful for our 1 prize of the season to be continuing the Kentucky winning streak, but if that's all that's left, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Go Vols.

Iv also been contemplating starting a thread similar to this one, because Iv never known what its like to lose to Kentucky seein as in my short life we never have. If there is one thing I want this year its for the streak to continue on!

For some reason I think we will find a way to win against them, KY always chokes against TN, it doesen't matter how good they are they still find a way to lose every year.

Skipper, maybe you get to dodge a bullet but it seems to me that everyone is taking the medicine this year.

That would be a winning season for UT this year. That is what you call mediocrity and that is what our program has descended to.

I can tell you what it was like the last time.

Johnny Jones was our Star Running Back. Before the game the radio station, the band, and everywhere else you turned was playing "Go Johnny Go". After the game they were playing "Go Johnny Go" but it wasn't directed to Johnny Jones, instead Johnny Majors.

Tennessee's defense sucked that game. George Adams ran over the top of us all afternoon

I was at the last loss. Hard to believe it was that long ago given we play them every year.

Two things actually... There's the matter of keeping vandy out of bowl contention.

This is the one current stat we own that still has national relevance. The longest streak over another team in the nation. I REALLY hope we hold it.

I wonder what attendance will be at that game. Seniors playing their last game, end of the Fulmer era.

I was at the last game Kentucky won. I was only 7 or 8 then but I remember sitting in near the Kentucky section. They were going crazy that day, kept chanting "GO BIG BLUE!"

I've hated Kentucky ever since.

Oh but that's not the only thing we have left....I also want to make sure Vandy doesn't get their 6th (or 7th) win. Depends on if they can win at Kentucky, but assuming they don't, I'd love to go to Vandy and add to their misery.

I mean yeah we got it bad, but think about them. 26 years without a bowl game, and in the span of 3 years they've had a 4-0 start and a 5-0 start; the 4-0 start crashed and burned (saved only by a lame duck victory over the worst UT team in almost 20 years) and now the 5-0 start is looking like another crash and burn. Seriously how bad is that....they've even gone to 12 games and VU is spotted a 5-0 start and STILL might not get to 6 wins. Unreal.

So let's ruin Kentucky AND Vandy's seasons, shall we?

We have more than that. 6-6 can still get us in a bowl game. Granted it would be the "Little Sister's of the Poor Bowl" or something along those lines but hey, it's better than nothing at all.

I am a Vol living in Kentucky and it sucks right now! Cats fans are constantly rubbing it in that they have a better record than we do. I keep my head held high, because I am a Vol through and through, no matter what the record. I have heard stories from fellow Tennessee fans who get hassled and attacked at Commonwealth. Apparently they have to let that frustration out somehow. Bottom line, let's hit 'em where it hurts by extending the streak! GO VOLS!

Bowl games are more important than where you go. They provide extra practice time that non bowl participants don't get. If the Vols finish 6-6 and Fulmer steps down before the bowl... the new coach is named and coaches in the bowl game... it will give the new coach time to practice with the players, to assess the assistants and players, re-recruit any players that might be thinking of leaving, and set up his plan for the program for the next year.
