I actually was working at the Tinroof and got to get on stage and sing it with Fred White, Al Wilson, and Terry Fair after we beat Ohio St. in the tournament.

One of the best memories I've had as a UT fan.
(I also got to wear Fred's ring :) )

But I actually think it was a Fulmer tradition; and a great one at that.

Have you ever been involved with a sports team? (im not being a smart a**)
Everybody sings that song. I remember singing that song when I was in the 9th grade after we won our county championship. Its nobodys song in particular its just a victory song.

Played high school ball and one year of college ball and never once heard that song. It might have been a regional thing around where you grew up or something.

I also played sports my whole life, and never heard that song until I started seriously following UT football. The team still sings it after every victory btw.

I don't know who started it at Tennessee, but according to Rucker's game coverage last year we still do it.

Anyone find it ironic that we didn't win a game outside the state of Tennessee last year?

Thanks for the response and wish we could somehow get an updated version of the team singing this. Love it!

What do they sing after Vandy?

"...about the whole school of Vanderbilt." Pretty sure it's more of a chant anyway. They did it after Vandy this year. I remember something about Dooley being annoyed and pissed at the end of the game, ready to lay into them, but a player reminded him that they hadn't sang yet. Seemed like a funny mental image. Especially after barely beating Vandy.

I went to UT in early/mid 70s and only remember hearing it sung, in any organized kinda way, about Bama ...

... but some of us added our own adaptation of it about "Ken-tuck" :eek:hmy:
