The kid and his coach admitted that Kiffin never made the pumping gas comment. Even if it was said, it was in private to a recruit and you're fooling yourself if you think comments like that don't happen all the time.
I didn't like Kiffin's choice of using the word "cheat" when describing Urban. I would prefer that Kiffin said that Urban was acting like a jealous 14 year old girl who found out that her boyfriend was hanging somewhere that other girls were around. d-bag would have fit better than cheater. It was also a setting for UT boosters and was a PRIVATE function that just happened to get leaked.
As for Pahokee, Nu'Keese's family works for that school system and his Aunt's took it upon themselves to send the fax from another school. The principal is also an admitted gator alumni and tried to block UT from having contact with Pahokee players.
With all this happening, I'd say it is safe to say that there were other efforts made by Pahokee to keep UT away from Nu'Keese and direct him to UF. Only a gator fan would try to spin that as a negative toward the school who was unfairly and ILLEGALLY being blocked from having contact with a recruit who wanted to go there.
Keep in mind that it was Nu'keese who chose UT because of his like for Kiffin and his distaste for Urban's recruiting tactics.
On the comment by Kiffin, I must have been mistaken....I thought the kid and his coach were the ones who said he DID say it and he said he didn't. As far as that goes, comments and negative recruiting do happen all the time for sure. Also the comments made about Urban were more than likely in gist but a bad choice of words. I went to several Gator gatherings where Spurrier spoke and he would rail on UT and FSU so yes I know it happens. You just have to know with today's technology that stuff like that will get out. As far as the Pahokee thing, we can agree to disagree. The school cannot legally block anyone from having contact with a player. If he was so sure about UT, why did he all but say he was a Gator the weekend before signing day and wasn't forthcoming about his whereabouts?? Sounds sneaky on the player and UT's part but we all know perception is not reality right?? I was just mentioning about how it looked not that UT had anything sneaky to do. I am all for a kid wanting to go wherever and let the chips fall where they may. As far as Nu'Keese is concerned, I don't recall any bad feedback, just that he said he really like the UT coaches and the opportunity to play early.
