I don't know about you all, but watching that game last night made me sick. However, I got to thinking, and think about this fact right here: Over the past 3 years, Tennessee is 4-2 against Florida, with 2-1 records in Knoxville as well as Gainesville!

Take that Gators!!!

dude, they are sitting on top of the world with 3 consecutive Championships in two main sports. I highly doubt that they care about us "owning" them in the regular season.

You are 100% correct. Just makes me feel better that they are going to leave knowing they never won in Knoxville and have a 2-4 record against us in 3 years...

Unlike football, in college basketball the entire point of the regular season is to get into and stake out a position in the postseason tournament. I'll take 6 consecutive wins in the tournament any day.

:yes: i wonder if the reaction could be this way for basketball, what it would be if the same thing were true in football? hm........curious.

I have been a fan of a playoff for college football for awhile but obviously it can't be a 64 team deal. I would hate to see any sort of playoff cheapen the tradition of the regular season games. I like that they mean so much.

I can't speak for LG, but I would take a 13-1 National Championship with a loss to the Gators for as many years as you would care to give it.

Naturally. But, the bigger issue as I say is that any sort of change to the BCS really needs to leave intact the great traditions of the rivalry games, IMO.

While I also wish for a playoff system in football the major difference between playoffs and what we have now is this; the current system rewards superiority through the entire season. A playoff system rewards who is playing best at the end of the season.

Can you imagine how big (bigger) the UT-uf game would be if played in November?:popcorn:

That's not the point. Everyone thinks they are coming up with these unique ideas to save college football. It's already been proposed and not implemented for whatever reason.

It is fine only by accident. I don't think undefeated Auburn thought it was fine; I doubt Michigan liked it all that much this year. It is only fine when the contrived, continually ammended system comes up with an answer when the answer is already obvious.

Yeah, Michigan really proved they deserved a chance for the National Championship this year. As for Auburn, they pretty much admitted they weren't expecting to win it all when they scheduled Citadel. Then, they took all that anger about being left out of the championship game and used it to barely beat a not-so-great Virginia Tech team. Had USC played Auburn, the Tigers would have lost by 21.

As for it working by accident, that is the most illogical thing I have ever heard.

No, that is the point. The NCAA isn't considering a playoff!! They love the bowl system.

My point was that anyone claiming to have their own solution to the playoff quandary is really just restating something that's already been thought about a long time ago.

I don't think anyone is claiming any idea is original or anything; and it's probably not, so I'm with you there.

You guys make it sound like college football is broken and needs fixed. Somehow I doubt the TV ratings and revenue numbers agree with that sentiment.

In reality, a 16-team playoff would be as exciting as the first round of one region of the basketball tournament. Let me think how exciting the 1 vs 16 matchups were this year......ah yes, not at all.

Cotton kinda implied it, but I may have taken that out of context. There are, however, quite a few posters on here that like to brag about his/her "own" playoff solution.
