I think people should give the NIT more credit, this is its 75th year, if it didn't matter it would have been dissolved long ago. By the way, before someone mentions it, the NCAA purchased the NIT because the lawsuit would not have gone their way. This is a valid tournament that hosts the teams that got jobbed because of the automatic invites to the "Big Dance".
Nobody got "jobbed"......the teams that didn't make it didn't have a good enough season to earn it.....the Ncaa gives u a second chance to earn it through being tournament champs and Tennessee failed there too.
Not really.....it is a meaningless tournament played for no reason......some teams are not motivated to play at all bc they are disappointed they did not make the real tournament.
Motivation is about coaching.
The NIT is a very good experience for teams like TN that need games more than they need accolades.
If you make to the dance and get creamed in your first game it usually means you didn't belong there in the first place.
If TN could get 2 or 3 games in the NIT and 4 or 5 in the European they'll be a much better team next year.
There's nothing meaningless about post season play.
People also forget that we've got a developing young coach.Well said.
Many forgot about the trip to Europe they'll Br going on this summer. Maybe I put too much weight on it, but have always thought that is a huge bonus for teams.
I think it will really give them that extra time for CCM to finish instituting all of his defense and offense prior to the start of next year. That could prove to be huge IMO.
There is a reason Stansbury is no longer the coach at Mississippi State. They came out flat and looked like they didn't care on defense; they were saving all of their energy for offense.Motivation is about coaching.

:loco:I think a team that lost 75% of it's scoring from last years team and was picked to finish 11th in the SEC did not "fail". Making it to any postseason tourney is quite an accomplishment for CCM and this team. Yes, losing to Ole Miss probably kept them out of the NCAA but who would have thought they would even be in that situation before the season started??
