WBIR joins KNS in overblowing secondary violations

More tripe from the hometown media; I may have to join their comment thing to have a little fun on this one.

Kiffin's ESPN interview could land secondary violation - via WBIR

Seriously though, doesn't it seem like the local boys are getting a little too happy to see him slipping up or get baited?

They've gotta talk about something.........Knoxville isn't exactly buzzing with sports news every day. All we have is UT, AA baseball, and a hockey team at almost the lowest level of play for professional hockey.

Besides, Knoxville's media market is a craphole as it is, with reporters that have their degrees drawn in crayon.

These guys are ridiculous, its like they just learned what a secondary violation was. I guess all these years CPF just ate his secondary violations so the KNS couldnt find out about them.

the truth is they are understanding this one event is the apex of a series of mistakes made by coach lane...everybody is getting tired of the wrecklessness - including the local media. furthermore, he is not down home tn...he is a hired gun that has his own interests at hand...he will not last. watch and see when he loses to ga, bama, gators two years straight he will be fired/run off/or just find another job and we will look back and say what in the world were we thinking when we hired this goof.

Just what we need. Another one of those guys that think that only a Tennessean should coach UT. Hey, you do know that Neyland was from Texas, Dickey was a South Dakota native and a UF grad, and Battle was an Alabama player under Bear Bryant?

It doesn't sound like you do.

doesn't mean he has to be from tn, however, he doesn't have orange and white running thru his veins. he has disrespected our program on every front...why has he showed such little class...that's not the tn way...it's the cheap way...not our way. we've been a class act for decades and now we are the laughing stock of all of college football. you don't have to do it this way.

And what evidence do you have to support your assertion?

So if he turns Tennessee into a national powerhouse again will you be on here saying "Boy was I wrong about Coach Kiffin"? My bet is no.

Just because the man didn't grow up in Tennessee or he was not affiliated with the school before he was hired makes him a bad choice? That's the worst excuse to try and discredit his loyalty or ability thus far to lead The University of Tennessee football program.

edit: yeah what nick said ( you beat me to it nick):)

for starters the media, espn, pti, jim rome, sports illustrated, etc, have all exploited kiffens mistakes. needless to say other teams and their forums are eating this stuff up.

I give him props on hiring a good coaching staff and bringing in some good recruits, but so did cpf. what has to be proven can clk coach these recruits...i don't think so...he hasn't proven it yet and his stent at the raiders organization speaks volumes.

MY POINT EXACTLY. he coached matt, but not the team. being a position coach is far different than being a head coach. a guy may be a good manager but a poor ceo...this is what happened to clk at usc - good manager of a few "all world" athletes, but not the ceo of the organization. when he went to the raiders as ceo he was in way over his head. time will show us all that he can't manage the program...so far he's done a poor job of direct and lead the program with class and dignity. the team will implode because of his lack of discipline.

You do know that Lane was in charge of the offense for USCsr back in 2004, and 2005. He also, was the recruiting coordinator for that period of time as well, getting the signature prospect, Patrick Turner, from the state of Tennessee in 2005, wrestling him away from Phat F*** Phil and that recruiting staff at Tennessee that year.

Just wow. How many players have been busted by the cops since his arrival? Sorry Phil. not buying it.

Why don't you do a pole on here and just see how many people are "getting tired of the wrecklessness".

his stent at the raiders organization speaks volumes.

*sigh* Yet another clueless poster. You don't really follow the Raiders, do you? If you did, you'd realize that his time in Oakland means nothing to this job now. If you tell me the "volumes" of information that you learned from his stint in Oakland, I, as an informed Raider fan, will discount all of it.
I'd do it now, but I've got to get to work.

Apex? Wrecklessness? Followed up by calling someone else a goof. Very rich.

Yes... clearly Kiffin's lack of discipline is leading to tons of arrests.

Disciplined, down home, Fulmer's average teams would typically be on their way to a half dozen arrests by this point of the year.

1. What wrecklessness do you speak of? I see no sanctions.
2. Oh, no, Lane Kiffin is not from Tennessee, he is a California boy. Your point?
3. You calling anyone a goof is the height of comedy.

why has he showed such little class...that's not the tn way

If you didn't notice, it's been a while since the "Tennessee way" has won anything.

I wonder if Florida fans are complaining about Urban's National Championships because he didn't do it the "Florida way"

Where did Lane Kiffin go to college?
Where was Lane Kiffin's college coaching job?
Where was Lane Kiffin the Head Coach?
Where did Lane Kiffin live before the move to Knoxville?
Where would Lane Kiffin bolt for in a heartbeat if the job were to open?
