Offense: we are fine at RB and WR positions. Those guys who got the extra play due to JJ being out did well. Got open, made catches, few (if any) drops. Eric Great is a man out there and it shows. He will be even better with additional year of development and learning the one cut and go. OL should also improve more. May lose Trey, which would hurt, but overall should be fine there.

However, we need a QB. We left at least two losses out there from QB play. Looking at teams that are a step above us, they gave that dynamic playmaker, and we do not. HB likely will need a year to learn the system, protection, coverage. JG just doesn’t have it. Maurer or Strout will have an opportunity to take that position. Hopeful that another year in Chaney’s system will help them learn and take a huge step. If JG is behind center next year, will be another long year.

Defense: losing talent in front seven. Have some great young talent there now, but success on defense is going to be how fast the youth can grow and perform. Secondary is fine. Huge drop off after Bituli left game. Need FR and SO to really step it up.

Thoughts?

Hill looks like a Beast, and does have pretty good experience...who knows...maybe he's the QB who bridges the gap to HB. BTW, we've got the burners at RB, but Crouch looks pretty dang imposing...wish we could get him some more touches.

I'm really interested to see how Pruitt finishes out this recruiting class. With what we have coming in next year, there is plenty to be excited about, and I believe we will continue to make strides with Gray becoming our workhorse at running back. Add Bailey into the quarterback mix and our offense will improve. The defense will be loaded and Pruitt is adding to that with this incoming class. Lawrence is a lock down corner and the line is getting 3 talented DT's as well. Good times ahead!

Will be very difficult to replace Jennings, Smith, Calloway, Bituli.

QB: Not sure JG still does not transfer. He's taken some ugly abuse here and may look for a fresh start elsewhere. He's a head case with a ton of talent. I thot it was spectacular how Puitt/Chaney handled the usual Deer in the Headlights and got JG off the field early. They didn't know this @ him during GSU & BYU. BM made 2 disastrous throws that IU cost themselves by dropping. But, Pruitt has seen it all season. He knows JG is the only real option in the current group. But when he goes bad he cannot come out of the funk. Sitting him and letting BM take a drive down and get 3 was exactly the medicine JG needed to come back in and play to his talent level and win it for us. We've seen it repeatedly this season. The guy just flat out needs to sit the bench and get his mentality right. I don't know why. But, I'm glad our coaches got out in front of it early and gave us time to re-insert JG and get the win! Somebody in the "group of 5" will emerge and we're in good shape with some experienced depth too if a starter goes down.

RB: Gray with a whole year in the weight room (and blocking practice/schemes) makes me happy. And if we get Banks back, which feels like may be in the works, then we'll have an excellent group. And Crouch, wow. I can't wait to see him at LB next year, but I've always thought he could be amazing at RB.

DB: Friggin' stacked like I can never remember. Rookies, Flowers back, and the emergence of young #22 means we won't miss Warrior at all. Amazing what we're building back there. Takes over WR as #1 position group in 20'.

LB: Bituli is a flat out stud and huge loss, but we've got really good talent coming up there. Hopefully Harrison steps into Taylors shoes. Wouldn't mind snagging that Temple xfer at OLB for a season either.

OL: I believe Smith returns. McSha has him as the #7 Guard. Huh? If that's somehow (health?) true, then he should stay. 1st rounder without a doubt. And we could really be good if BK gets a 6th and they stay healthy. They keep getting better and better every game imo. They just came from a really really low starting point.

WR: With Johnson and Gibbs coming, plus a rookie and emergence of Keyton, we'll be in good shape there. Maybe not the strength of the team like this year. But, Palmer is looking elite, and has the athleticism to be a day 1 NFL pick IMO.

DL: Like a machine our staff is improving this weakness. With the newbs coming and getting Gooden back, the trenches may be a strength next year. I can't believe I'm writing this. But, it's happening.

TE: We should have about 27 on the roster. Someone can surely emerge and catch some balls. We have some trench guys that should be productive.

That's my fickle feelings anyway.

In any of the last 10 years, I would hate to lose any of those players. However, I think we will be fine with the replacements we will have for them in 2020. We will miss the leadership, but we have the talent to replacement as far as their athletic ability goes. The biggest challenge is getting solid QB play during the first half of the season.
