Waxman might investigate you next...

In the meantime, earmarks and pork barrel spending continue to increase. Isn't that was his committee should be paying attention to?

Exactly, I thought the "new Congress" was going to discontinue earmarks? Funny how that has gotten pushed to the back burners, McCain should be leading that fight.

Don't forget who allowed earmarks to spiral out of control in the first place....

With that said...I'm not a fan of most earmarks. I hope we significantly reduce them.

Oh listen, don't I know it, and not happy about it at all, just a burr in my saddle so to speak. It was made a point of intrest with the Pelosi administration, and fell by the way-side. Polotics as usual. I think I will start a poll for term limits on congress, positives and negatives.

The banking/mortgage industry is in crisis. Likely there will be bank failures. The govt has good reason to be concerned with banking practices, specificly lending practices. When banks start failing, they will be heavily scrutinized.

I don't disagree but there are agencies and entities specifically tasked and empowered to do this.

Waxman's action looks like another show trial - if you saw any of the Roger Clemens hearing you know what I mean. Nothing constructive and no public good was served. It was simple grandstanding. This looks to be more of the same.

When your numbers are so low, all you can do is "appear" to be doing something whether your actually doing anything atall.

Please explain to me why it is up to Congress to conduct these investigations.. Do we not have Federal Law Enforcement to handle this kind of stuff.. Pelosi needs to stop blinking and going to Syria and actually do something to help the US.

In addition to Federal Law Enforcement there is the SEC. For this particular instance where the issue is pay incentives being out of whack with company performance there is also a media watchdog role and action by the shareholders themselves.

This Congressional action to me represents the worst of our system. Find a non-sympathetic whipping boy and berate them in public to show you care about the little people (constituents) that are getting screwed. Meanwhile, your campaign takes donations from this industry.

An earlier post hit the nail on the head - this is why Congressional approval numbers are so low. They spend their time on this crap instead of doing anything of value.

Which is why I don't get some of the people who vote Dem on here... all they talk about is how much spending Bush has done, and they think that will improve with Obama or Hillary. I just can't see spending dramatically decreasing with one of them.
