Watching game from a ship?

Answer: Once you are in International Waters - all American sports channels are signal jammed, and it's only Copa de Oro or EPL there on out.
This was true maybe 8 or 9 years ago....first cruise you could not watch US Sports once you got a certain distance away from shore (buddy and I were watching March Madness when all of a sudden it switched over to cricket).

Last two cruises I have had US sports in the sports bar....and that was throughout the cruise and we were waaaay out of US waters.

So, that does not hold true anymore. As long as there is a sports bar, you will get what you want....but good advice to get to know the bartenders and tip them well so they remember you.....that way you will be able to get a TV changed.

On Carnival - will show anything on all of the ESPN's - no network. We usually cruise in February - best memories at bar watching Kentucky game with fellow Vols and some Cat fans that we have met. It was a glorious cruise night when Fulky brought us back to win at Rupp a couple years ago ! Have also watched a game on someone's phone set in middle of table on their wi-fi which was also a lot of fun. Last resort - make sure you record so you can watch when you return..............and have fun, make memories !

We are going to Alaska and are taking a Firestick. Hopefully we'll be able to use that.
We just got back from Alaska in June and I streamed the baseball games. If you are in anchorage or another decent sized city you shouldn’t have a problem. We had some issues up toward Denali since it was essentially dial up speeds there. Have fun. One of the best places I’ve ever traveled to.

The more modern fleet of ships today (circa 2000 and newer), almost all have a Sports Bar that show ESPN and ESPN2. Some get a few more channels but it's not like the have the SEC channel in the public lounges.

Best bet is to tape the game and stay away from TVs for the duration of the cruise and when you get home, watch the game while the wife is unpacking and doing your laundry.

Such a great gif.

In keeping with @joevol33 theme of pirates, whereby hijacking this thread with nonsense.

I was reading that Somali Pirates are ones jamming satellite feeds, hoping to disorient would be travellers.

Have no idea if they can do that or not. Do hope you have a fun trip brother, sorry for the silliness.

Go Vols.

I’ll keep it going . We have hijacked the thread..this is no longer about watching the VOLS on a cruise ship, (which I did at Skybox Sports Bar on a Carnival boat)..this our thread. now

If the ship out of NOLA loves their tigers like they love their Saints, it will def be on the big screen.
Biggest football party I ever witnessed was on a cruise out of NOLA when the saints played

Oh brother......makes me miss that glorious stretch from 2015-17 where I was fortunate enough to get invited to work rotations in Alaska. I went 5 times as I recall and worked in islands around Juneau and then in Anchorage. You are in for some incredible experiences. Lord, i miss that time. Enjoy it all my friend.

Do you have a firestick or roku device? Could probably make watching on the room TV worst case scenario instead of your phone.

You have to be careful with Roku/Firestick/etc outside US shores. You will find most of the programming-especially sports to not be available outside the US.

For instance, when I lived in China and there was a game on the NFL network and I used my Roku to connect to my parents cable provider so I could watch overseas. It would be blacked out. Instead of the game, I would just get generic programming.

Same for many of the first run broadcast channels.

I used a VPN to get around it, but the download speeds were cut so much that it was usually unwatchable unless you set your resolutions as low as possible. Of course this kills you being able to see the game clearly.

Your best bet might honestly be one of the bootleg streaming sites.
