Interesting that you think "Grow up" with a bunch of exclamation points makes a good argument.

He's a 4th year college QB who has for the most part been the focus of a succession of professional coaches who tried to "fix" him. The announcer nailed one of JG's biggest problems. He said he has to "see it" before throwing rather than reading and anticipating throws. He had to have described JG passes as "late" more than 5 times. He used to be consistently late and short. Now he's just late and generally off target.

I was willing to believe in him. I hoped after 3 good games that he had turned a corner. But the old JG was back vs Vandy and IU. UT needs a QB that brings it every game and every play. JG appears to be incapable of doing that.

It is what it is. The season is over and it turned out better than most of you expected. The QB position will be better next year in that we will have 5 players from whom to find good play. The coaches want to win more than we do because it is their lively hood. Time to wrap this season up and look forward to 2020.

The game was an absolute slog. In fact, for as great as this whole win streak has been, very little of it has actually been fun to watch. Dont get me wrong, I'll take winning ugly over losing pretty any day of the week. I'm just looking forward to seeing a more exciting brand of football in the future with a better, more dynamic QB.

And he's won at the level he's qualified for, and had a couple of good seasons here, and is making millions for it. He proves the point, you don't have to have played to understand and have knowledge.

Yeah. Pretty much. He had two partial good games and a good game vs Mizzou. Then he slumped back into the same guy he's been as a passer since he became the starter.

The team around him has improved.... quite a bit actually. He still processes too slow. He still can't anticipate throws. He still holds the ball too long and/or is late with the ball. In the last two games, he's also become very inconsistent in his accuracy.

I wanted him to be good. I was ready to see him turn the corner. After thinking he couldn't... 3 games gave me hope. The last two games have pretty much spoiled that hope. He may have a good game here and there but what you saw vs IU is the "rule"... not the exception.

Get off your high horse and realize that playing gives no one any greater insight or right to criticize, share opinion, debate, or discuss than anyone else.

Don't take the low hanging fruit and use "your" playing time as "your" reason for a team or players better performance. Put in the effort and show "your" work, or go sit on the bench.

No, winning is the rule and we won 8 games last year, despite having poor play at the QB position. That means that progress has been made and that the TEAM has improved. Next year, there will likely be 6 QBs to chose from. Three of them we have not seen play at the collegiate level. Why not wait until a ouple of games in the 2020 season have been played before one begins to bash the team and the QB position? Trolls will not do that; fans will.

Mallon Faircloth running the single wing. Hopefully the HB kid can take us to the next level

It was a stinker by JG for sure but I can't say it's the worst. I've seen some awful ones over the years.

2002 UF UT comes to minds. Casey Clausen fumbled the center snap exchange 4 times in the first half (3 times in a 4 minute span). He lost three of those and I believe he had two picks on top of that.

Dude. Honest and objective criticism is not "bashing". And we don't need to wait until the '20 season is blown like the '19 season was before recognizing that JG continues to be a liability. I wanted him to be better. I wanted to believe that he had turned the corner in the last half of the season. I wanted to believe his poor performance vs Vandy was just a product of the rain and his family tragedy. But the JG who played against IU is the same guy who lost to GSU... but with a better D and OL.

The team has improved. I see 2 QB's, not 3, with no college experience. Hill was a starter at Maryland. I'm not "bashing" the team. Where do you get that? The team improved across the board. JG didn't or at least not enough. IU does not have a great D. They don't have a coaching staff that's being raided by the nation's top programs. And yet they had little trouble game planning to make JG ineffective and inconsistent.

UT MUST have better play from the QB position and it can't just be a game here or there.

I've now watched the game 4 times, thank you @Freak! First viewing was live as a fan, real time. I'm getting upset, scare, happy, frustrated.. You name it.. But The Vols win.. 😊

Second viewing was basically for fun and to see plays I missed..

3rd and 4th viewing.. I watch to learn and observe different players and also pay attention to what Indiana is doing.. The first viewing I tend to just focus on the live action.. I personally am not able to see every thing going on.. But on the 3rd & 4th viewing.. I check it all out.. Stop, rewind etc.. It's cool because most always what I thought actually happened during live action I find there is way more that goes on that I do not see.. Also I listen to the radio shows and pay attention to their break downs as well as some posters on Volnation that points out things.. So I go back and look for them.

Lastely.. Some people tend to focus on what The Vols do on the field, but totally forget that they are playing a team that is doing things well to... In live action I tend to get pissed thinking The Vols may have blown a play when upon second viewing and studying.. The other team like Indiana just flat out made a play or stop..

My couple cents on re-watching the game. GoVols!!

I replayed a few plays to grab some pictures in preparation for an argument to explain JG is holding the offense back. Ended up deleting the pictures because our fans were already giving him a hard time and I didn't want to pile on. It was truly a bad performance, especially in the red zone. He only made the right decision half the time and when he did, the ball was late.

However, he's had a new offensive coordinator every year he's been here. Next year will be the first time he's entered Spring with a basic understanding of the offense. I'm holding out hope that he will start making decisions faster. If he doesn't, our ceiling is 9-3.... which isn't bad. I'd be happy with 9-3 and a redshirt year for HB.
