Warren Burrell, Refs, and Tim Banks

I do expect to see Burrell hitting the portal, because I would think we will be recruiting over him.
Who, in their right mind, would take him out of the portal based off his performance in this game. None of our guys on defense played well tonight. That pesky slant and those long bombs :):):).

When your offense does nothing for 2 quarters to help the defense it doesn't help matters. This team deserved to lose but not in the fashion they did.
It matters when the other team scores 40 points!! Comon, we have zero defense!! Banks has NO CLUE!!

We got ZERO pressure on their QB.

Also the commentators were right in trashing our D for biting on the RPO. Their QB is not mobile and their entire run game is garbage.

Our DL sucked. Our LBs sucked. Our DBs really sucked.

Overall it was an equal issue between jimmies/joes, scheme and poor field conditions.

Again guys...and there are many, not pointing at you Butch...the playcall had 4WR in the pattern. Trips left and 1WR on a go route to the right side....BOTH times.

The Coach didnt fixate on 1WR to the right and ignore the 3WR to his left. TWICE. Hooker did that. Coach was pissed both times, especially after the jersey grab. WATCH the replays.
Again, who called the go route and gave Hooker that option? We needed 10-15 yards and that’s it. Like it or not, it was both bad play calling and bad execution.

In this offense there are multiple options on every play. The QB has to make the read and should take the highest percentage play given the defense and match ups. That is on the QB not the coach.
We did not play great but we for sure played well enough to have won if the refs had done their jobs.

You sayin' Purdue didn't play on the same field we did???
Yes they played on the same field but the field conditions played more to their advantage. We played Slow last night. Either that or we were drugged.... The trenches were God awful for traction. Our team speed was half of what it should have been...

It is what it is but Burrell is terrible. I am not sure what Taylor gained by opting out but it probably cost UT the game. I don’t think Purdue would have scored anymore points with Bell in the game. I can’t say I blame him though he may be a top 20 pick. Taylor is at best a round 3-4 pick

I think Taylor is a 3rd-4th Rounder like you. I also think he'll go on to be a solid CB in the NFL like multiple former unheralded UT CBs have been.

His 40' time will have a huge impact. I don't see him breaking 4.5 TBH.

I'd add our two OTs to that list. Wright and Davis played extremely poor. Those of us that watch the oline realize that position really killed us all night.

Purdues defensive linemen were more physical and bullied our offensive line. When Purdue brought in the heavies we still tried to run up the middle. WTH

We have like 3 LBS and 1 edge rusher. And obviously the CBs outside of Alontae are a liability. It's the first year after 30 transfers leaving, primarily defensive players. To be good on defense with the type of offense we run, you not only need players that fit the scheme, but you need solid 2s and 3s that can rotate in. We barely have 1s.

This. Our offense will likely be even better next season....but if we dont get a few DBs from the portal then we will have to score 4o plus to win every week....

Ok for one shot I’m with you. After that the coach has to signal the QB to not do the same stupid thing again.

They did, but their scheme overall favors smashmouth and ours favors finesse offensively.

AKA they weren't as punished for it as we were.
Purdue isn’t a smash mouth team at all. They’re much more of a passing team than a running team.

Burrell simply had bad technique that can be fixed. He turned outside toward the WR to keep eyes on him (lack of experience) instead of looking for the ball and trusting yourself to stay with WR. When he turned outward to watch for a back shoulder fade, he never turned to find the ball and he put his body right in the WR lane for an easy pass interference call. Some guys can do it well and some never learn. We’ll see if Burrell learns with more experience, but the moment was too big for him right now.

Our DB's couldn't have practiced or watched any film in preparation for this game. There's no way with the practice time they had that they should've played that bad.

Yep. It was the refs that caused our offense to go stagnant in the second quarter. It was the refs that caused Hooker to miss 2 TDs. It was the refs that let average WRs torch our secondary all day long. It was the refs that caused us to have little to no significant pass rush. It was the refs that caused us to not tackle properly. It was the refs that allowed our OL to get abused by PERDUES DL.

But yeah you are right. This game was ALL because of the refs. We played excellent and the refs blew it. I know what happened. Saban called up the refs and paid them off. Yep that’s it.

Cry more, bro. Just don’t take this loss out on the people closest to you. Keep it here. 🤙🏻
