Barnes is a bit like Butch Jones. He loses players before they mature and develop.
He's lost four forwards prematurely. Three came in as freshmen and one sophomore.
Kasongo stayed one year as a sophomore.
Walker stayed two years, freshman and sophomore.
Burns stayed one year as a freshman.
Kent stayed two seasons plus a month this season.
That might be the worst comparison I've ever seen made in this forum, and wow, is that saying something. The only similarity between Barnes and Butch Jones is that they are white males who have coached a team sport at Tennessee.Barnes is a bit like Butch Jones. No coach hits on every recruit"Coach Barnes’ coaching style is not for everyone. Of those players you listed, two were probably never going to be contributors, anyway. In my opinion, If a player can’t hack it, he is better off at another program, and UT can use the scholarships for better players."
That may be true but he OK'd bringing them into the program. There is a selection process and the coaches missed on these guys. Good bigs are rarer than good guards. Missing on bigs is more harmful to the program than mistakes on guards.
This is happening to every program in the country with the transfer portal and players turning pro. Not sure why you are picking on Barnes.Barnes is a bit like Butch Jones. He loses players before they mature and develop.

I can pretty much guarantee we won’t be 24-5, only a handful of Power 5 teams will be. 18-11 gets us in the dance with our schedule. I’ve been far more encouraged by our start than discouraged. FSU was a tough matchup and we didn’t play well. It happens. We do have a tendency to telegraph our passes and Lamonte is somewhat inconsistent.
We need Vescovi badly. Looking more like an 18 win team than 22-24 wins, that's for sure.
I think we need to get JJ more involved with the pg situation sooner rather than later due to inconsistent play from Turner.
