Spanked. Say what you will about being down by 21 or 17 or whatever, but Butch's Vols spanked VT (likely top 20) and UF (likely top 10 this week.)

He hasn't forgotten how to coach since then. What changed? Injuries. Period.

Yes, Dobbs sucked last night and singlehandedly lost that game for us basically. But were he surrounded by his full complement of players, it doesn't matter.

Fire Butch is nonsense.

A&M and Bama were excusable losses, but last night was not. We had a bye week and came out unprepared and flat and that is 100% on the coaches. Jones will get another year, but his seat will be en fuego next year.

We wouldn't have beaten VT if they hadn't fumble all of those times. We didn't win that game, they lost it.

It's more than injuries. The effort was not there last night, and that falls directly on the coaches shoulders when it's a majority of the team. The team looked as if they could care less last night. Has Butch lost the team or was last night an exception? Not sure but either is unacceptable. Having a week off and playing for the east should not have had this team walking on the field against a bad team looking as if they could care less.

you guys murdered us in that second half no doubt about it

38 unanswered was a little flukey tho your boys were pissed off about all the **** talking, the streak, etc and played the best half of football any tenn team has in over a decade

He still let a back up get up 21-0 and his players bailed him out with a monster second half plus our coaches rolled over and never really tried to go deep again even tho those deep passes were leading to touchdowns

You hang your hat on that. I believe if we were playing either one of those two teams last night we get spanked even worse then we did by a HS kid.

Appy state begs to differ...

Virginia Tech beat themselves like we did vs A&M and Florida had a backup QB. If we want to use injuries as an excuse for losing than we need to look at injuries affecting our wins as well. A QB out makes a hell of a difference.

There are five stages in the grieving process. You are still in denial while the rest of us are in the acceptance stage.

Youre not helping your case. Butch beat those teams handedly but lost to the worst team in the SEC. on top of that, a 17 year old senior in high school... His unwillingness to bench Dobbs has costed us 3-4 games over the past 2 years.

That many injuries isn't bad luck. Its bad coaching. We are the least physical team in ut history. Our defense and rushing stats prove that. You coach soft and play/practice not to get injured and this is what happens. When you're getting hit and not doing the hitting this is what happens. I can't count how many times the oline injures itself by falling on each others knees and ankles. Its pathetic. You're more likely to get injured getting knocked on your back. The more aggressive the better off you are not getting injured. Look at Barnett and Jennings.

Name one team we destroyed from beginning to end besides VT and their fumble-itis. We are a Hail Mary miracle and a couple fumbles away from 5 losses. Put away the teams early we are supposed to and we pull the starters keeping them fresh and not injury-prone. OP is out of his mind.

We have been down at halftime in EVERY. SINGLE. GAME.

Eeked out an OT win against Appy State.

Pooped out a win against Ohio.

Had a last second Hail Mary to beat UGA.

Gave TAMU the game by handing over 7 turnovers.

Lost to a freshman quarterback on a horrible USCe team.

In year 4, our team has regressed. I always hear how folks give coaches credit for having disciplined teams when the don't turn the ball over or get a lot of penalties...and I've heard that in years past about Butch. Now we suck in those categories and everyone is now blaming the players for those things. Sorry, but you can't have it both ways.

Our player development, by and large is horrible.

We aren't mentally or strategically prepared to play one single game this year, 8 games into the season.

After 4 years, with a lot of returning players we have no offensive line. Dobbs has progressed none.

Butch deserves credit for putting out the dumpster fire Dooley started but he's ran out of talent. We can either continue to support his mediocrity or call it what it is and get real about his lack of football IQ and get another coach. It's that damn simple.

Or just keep denying he sucks.

Financially we can't fire him, but we don't need to sit around and act like he's good, however I think there folks here that have zero ability to see the forest.

Fire Butch is nonsense?? At this time yes, for what ever reason, cost to fire, injuries, whatever. But in the real world, when you don't preform, you get called to task and have it impressed on you that things must change or else. I think the "call in" time has come. As distasteful as the Les Miles release was, I think that's what happened. For him, he didn't change things. For Butch ????

The difference is that back when we played both of those teams they just really were not as good as they are now. They have both done what good teams are supposed to do and progressed and gotten better week by week, so now they have both developed into pretty good programs. We on the other hand have regressed and have actually gotten worse as the season has gone on, or at least we have remained stagnant and have failed to fix a lot of the issues that have caused us to lose games. If we played either one of those teams now I don't think too many people would like our chances.

I agree with you except one part..........Alabama is a great football team, but that loss(blow out) at home, was inexcusable.

OP is prime example of why we have been bad for so long. Not only is mediocrity accepted here, it's embraced and grasped onto. If you can't see the faults with this staff, you should probably stop watching football.
