Anyone use vonage with Comcast service? Does it work alright? Any problems?

Yes and yes. We like it for what it is. The Voicemail to txt feature is kinda neat too.

If I do go with satellite, we will switch to DSL and a landline. I keep putting it off b/c Vonage is such a PITA to port a number away from.

Wish I could convince the wifey to drop the home line all together...

Well I'm considering some different options right now.

I'm about to switch to Comcast Xfinity, but I really don't want to pay $30/mo for a phone service I barely use.

I basically need a phone that is 911 accessible and that my young son can use to call me from the house in an emergency. Other than that, I really don't use it for shat.

I'm also considering something like this:

I looked at this too, but the inability to port my number was an issue. A buddy if mine switched his home line to this from Magic Jack and liked it the last time we talked about phones, etc.

Supposed to be a good product. If making outgoing calls is the critical part, it should be a fit for the $$.

My cable has been really reliable, so any VoIP solution should work fine.

Yeah, not being able to port the number doesn't bother me.

The issue with MagicJack is you have to keep your computer running all the time. I don't like that.

I'll give it a whirl.

My in laws use magic jack. POS, imo. Loses connection or poor audio half the time.
