Vols will NOT be in the Music City Bowl vs Louisville (merged)

It seemed to be an overwhelming choice of fans to go to the Florida bowl too. So still think the fans won too.
There is a relatively small number of people who have the time, money, and interest to travel to a second tier bowl. Those people will show up no matter where you play so you can pretty much take them for granted. Doug framed the considerations for Nashville as being accessible to people who won't travel overnight, keeping money in-state, and working your donor base in Williamson Co. That’s what he said.

Seniors saying they wouldn't play if they went to the MCB instead of a FL bowl shows a lack of commitment. I could understand players skipping a bowl game because they are a top NFL prospect but not because of where the game is.

Plenty to do in Nashville, I think players wanted to play in florida just because it is warm and better matchup there. If Nashville could pick at a higher spot it would be a attractive draw. If they were a big six destination or in citrus or outback slot and had a bigger pecking spot they would be fine. They still do good, but they usually prefer a Tennessee or Kentucky to really get a good draw. I wish their were no bowl tie in deals but the rose bowl and pac 12 and big 10 will never give that up. But it would be the way to get the best bowl matchups. I think once the Championship playoff destinations are set the rest of the bowl games should have to bid for their pecking order for X amount of years, and then do it again. They could decide to bid every year or every 2 or 3. I also think we have too many bowls, I think 20 bowls outside the playoffs would be plenty, that's another 40 teams. I also think 6 wins should be a mandatory minimum to qualify for a bowl. GBO!

Oh horse hockey. I bet they would have played. It was a bluff. And if you expect me to buy it because it came from the mouth of Fulmer? Yeah, right.

its Doug Matthews making up crap again, Fulmer may have said something along the lines of the players preferred Florida (and fans for obvious reasons) but he never said players wouldnt play

Oh had they gotten it, I am pretty sure the players would have taken it. I am sure though that a few hinted that to Fulmer.

I could see Jennings and a few other seniors saying we’ve played in Nashville enough, and there’s nothing the coaches could’ve done about them not playing since they are done one way or another.
Sorry but all those that rushed and bought tickets are now overly butt hurt and need to realize this game is for the players, not for cheap fans that want a quick, cheap easy trip to a “bowl game” that is in a city they play in every other year anyway. If your that gung-ho on seeing a game for cheap and a quick trip they will play at Vandy next year for you.

Well, we will never know for sure if Jennings and a few others would have done that. They are going to Jacksonville, and I am happy if their saying that at the time led to them playing there. Can't blame them if they had not gone though. I am sure the food would have been good, but digesting it over the twanging music? I would enjoy the eats better there.

I'm sure that's true. Matthews tends to do that, or so I hear. Never listen to him.

Next year Music City Bowl picks in front of Outback, in line with Citrus. Not with Gator and Belk. That coupled with Nashville being voted #1 sports city in US should add prestige to the bowl

I think Tennessee goes 9-3 in 2020 and that could place them in the Citrus Bowl or Outback Bowl:cool:
