Oh I don't know...maybe so that folks don't get unreasonable expectations, bet the farm on all the hype and then if we don't meet those outsized expectations, get out the pitchforks and run off the best coach we've had since George W Bush was president...

You're right...I'm probably just being paranoid. Let's get carried away. Why not? What could possibly go wrong? GBO

I don't think you're trolling, I just don't see the big deal. I'm a fan of football. I like getting excited, that's what's enjoyable to me. I don't trust those rankings but I also don't care.

This is supposed to be fun and half the fun for me is getting "carried away".

Anyway, if we keep winning it won't matter. If we don't, it still won't. Lol.

I agree. I'm here for fun. Have at it, fellas.

I skipped reading the other comments just to say that we have a bad history with Florida. Like the worst ever. Even if we should beat them they always find a way to make our lives suck. But I hope we can get them this year.

Well if this was serious bidness I'd agree with you.

Yesterday wasn't pretty but something we can build on and we're 2-0.

Go Vols!!

9 or 10 is getting far more likely to me. LSU may be off, Alabama does not appear to be the juggernaut expected.

Most likely loss: UGA
Likely loss: Alabama
Toss up: Kentucky

Lean Tennessee now: LSU & Florida

Win the rest. Expect 9-3 now, but I will not be surprised at 10-2 or, lightening in a bottle, 11-1. 11-1 might get the Vols in the playoff if the loss is to UGA and they win the SECCG.

I like the way you think!

Until Arkansas started losing all their defensive backs I was thinking that they would take the west.

Reminds me of the old saying “better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all”
2 sides to the coin. I say hope for the moon and ride it as long as we can. Right now we have a ranked, undefeated team. That may not be true 2 weeks from now. Let’s enjoy it while we can.

Need all the LB's we can get.

Our secondary and lb are fair to avg. at best. Real test will come when Ky, and Fla come knocking. Both would have beaten us Saturday.
Agree about KY would have beaten us last Saturday with a similar performance from us. Not sold on UF beating us. Jury is still out on how good they are

It seems like anytime someone predicts us to possibly win 8-9 games, some troll has to come along with the “let’s not get carried away.” Like expecting 8-9 wins is somehow completely out of the realm of possibility.

With Pitt in the W column, 8 is now my minimum expectation.

Please! Let’s don’t overlook Akron. I believe Texas AM overlooked App State, and Notre Dame overlooked Marshall. You simply can’t do that, or you’ll get hooked on a surprise defeat. Be careful, because we have a history of looking over the team we play before Florida, and have struggled in that game before we play them. Their minds have been on Florida, and we HAVE STRUGGLED on the game before them. I hope we just come out and play the way we have, and not struggle through this one game.

Apply and Marshall would both curb stomp Akron. Akron truly has as close to zero percent chance of winning as it gets. I’m worried zero

Obviously the players/coaches need to be focused regardless of opponent. That said there is a greater chance of a meteor striking Neyland Stadium than of Tennessee losing to Akron Saturday.
