OC Jim Chaney was working very closely with the offensive tackles today. Did so in a group separate from the interior linemen. OL coach Will Friend was working primarily a drill with the guards and centers.

Defensive lineman Kurott Garland was at practice today. First time he's been out at practice during an open period for media. He had entered the transfer portal earlier this offseason.
Working near the front of defensive line drills today: Aubrey Solomon. He was spending more time near the rear of individual drills last week.

LB Daniel Bituli was out at practice in full gear but was held out of some reps during individual drills.

Kurott Garland was back out with DL, going through reps.

Bumphus, Mincey and Middleton were working with OLBs.

Aaron Beasley was with the MLBs today.

Meanwhile, Aubrey Solomon was running third in the DL group and was wearing a big, bulky brace on his right knee. He was moving well, though, and received two, “Good job, Aubrey,” from coach Tracy Rocker.

On the offensive line, initially Will Friend was working with the guards and Jim Chaney was focused on the tackles, but the group quickly became muddled with guys moving all around. Darnell Wright spent some time at right guard. Marcus Tatum worked solely at right tackle while we were out there. Wanya Morris and Jahmir Johnson both missed multiple reps grabbing water and received an earful from Friend. At the end of drills, Trey Smith worked his way toward the trainers and not the rest of the team for the 11-on-11 period.
Senior middle linebacker Daniel Bituli continues to be slowed by an undisclosed injury. He took part in a few early drills but mostly watched on the side. Freshman Henry To’oto’o remained with the 1s, while Shanon Reid and Will Ignont split reps beside him. Also at inside linebacker today was freshman safety Aaron Beasley. JJ Peterson went through a few reps today but spent several minutes with trainers looking at his shoulder.

Garland looks every bit of the 6-foot-3 and 304 pounds at which he's listed, and he was donning a cowboy collar with his No. 79 jersey. He really hadn't practiced since last season given he didn't go through drills during spring practice.

Darel Middleton, LaTrell Bumphus and John Mincey were working with the rest of the outside linebackers on Tuesday afternoon, joining a group that did not appear to include freshman Roman Harrison, who's been a little bit banged up at times this month.

At inside linebacker, Tennessee's only scholarship options behind the top four of Daniel Bituli, Henry To'o To'o, Will Ignont and Shanon Reid are J.J. Peterson and Solon Page. Bituli and Ignont have been banged up this month, too. Bituli was pretty limited on Tuesday and spent most of the open-viewing period of practice watching drills and coaching up his teammates, Beasley included.

Freshman Chris Akporoghene, who has yet to practice this preseason, was out there on the field on Tuesday, but he was watching drills and didn't take any reps.

Redshirt freshman Ollie Lane, another offensive lineman who's been limited and missing practice, was going through drills.

Freshman Aaron Beasley had been working with the safeties through 15 practices, but the Georgia native was working with the inside linebackers during the open portion of practice today. The word on Beasley when he signed with the Vols was that he was capable of playing safety, linebacker, or running back. It appears that Tennessee is putting that to the test in an effort to find the best spot for him.

the linemen worked with Tracy Rocker on stunts under the chute. Elijah Simmons and Aubrey Solomon were first through the drill, while Matthew Butler received praise from Rocker during his run through.

Offensively, the media didn’t see much routes-versus-air during the open portion, but of what we did see, it was a fairly clean throwing session. Jacquez Jones continues to work ahead of Jordan Murphy in the slot.

One interesting note from the throwing session, however, is that Dominick Wood-Anderson was called over from the tight ends to run some routes. He was split out wide and looked good. It’s the first time this fall camp we’ve seen a tight end catch a pass during the open portion of practice.
