Was reading this recap not expecting to see us in their b/c we did just play missouri, but there we are in other takeaways. Vols showing progress and headed toward the top again. Obviously we need to play well next week, but it's good to see people notice this is not the Tennessee we saw under Dooley and Jones....

College Football Weekend Recap: October 3, 2020

Fans in Knoxville have been waiting a long time for the Volunteers to be a factor in the SEC again. After the first two weeks of the season, Tennessee is giving their fans a reason to believe. The Volunteers held off a scrappy South Carolina team in the season opener, but handled Missouri easily this weekend. The running game was able to chew up chunks of yardage and gained 232 yards, while quarterback Jarrett Guarantano managed the game well and avoided the mistakes that have plagued him in the past. We won’t know if Tennessee is back near the top of the SEC until after the Georgia game next week, but the team has avoided the poor early season performances that marred the past couple seasons. Things are trending up in Knoxville, but there is still work to be done.

This will be the most crucial aspect of Saturday's game IMO. NO TURNOVERS or we obviously will have zero chance. I know that's the key to most games (although some seem to think there's bigger issues than fumbles/interceptions) but turnovers REALLY loom large against Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. Even one give away can doom our chances whereas it might take multiple take aways by us to have the same impact.

I can see us having a turnover or two because I think Pruitt wants to be aggressive as the only way to win the game. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised to see UGA QB struggle with some of the schemes Pruitt throws at them and have the vols win the turn over battle. Optics are that this is a tough game and can see why the line is where it is, but wouldn't be surprised at all to see us in the game in the fourth quarter.

Chizik loved us on the SEC network. But this is the game where the Vols earn respect obviously a win is huge, but keeping it within 7 ish earns the Vols a look. This is the statement game where TN proves it really is almost back.

FYP. :)

Go Vols!

We almost had a couple of turnovers last week. Can't have multiple turnovers, that spells doom for sure, even just one at an inopportune time could be the difference.

Let's hope the turnover bug bites UGA, even if not, I like how we stack up against them. From what I've seen from them this year, they ain't all that and a bag of chips.

I am enjoying it, but until we beat one of the big three on our schedule, it is temporary and ephemeral. Beat Georgia Saturday and the whole world changes.
the opportunity has been set directly in front of us. We can plead for respect all we want, but here is the chance to actually reach out an sieze it. Whatever happens now is totally up to the VOLS. It is put up or shut up time. I believe in this team FWIW

College Football Weekend Recap: October 3, 2020

A lot of love from was on The Bachelor Jesse Palmer on College Football Final.

While I agree with him the Tennessee Volunteers could win the SEC East that still involves needing to win at the heavyweight Georgia because I don’t expect the Georgia Bulldogs to lose multiple games for the Tennessee Volunteers to finish ahead of them in the SEC East.

So I’m not overreacting to his genuine great compliments about the playing great Tennessee Volunteers that have 8 games left which includes 3 heavy lifting games that are At Georgia, At Auburn, and the Juggernaut Alabama.

The Tennessee Volunteers need to show me Saturday they are a great team by defeating the heavyweight Georgia Bulldogs in Georgia.

This is their 1st game this season to show they are a great team, also that Guarantano can be a great effective QB in a heavyweight challenging game.
They have a long winning streak except I know they haven’t played any great teams before this Saturday At Georgia game.

As soon as we lose one, the pundits will be back on the TN is average and no factor in the SEC train.

Depends on how we lose it. IT we lose in typical Tennessee fashion (spectacular embarrassment) then yes they will. If we put up a fight and lose at the end (again, barring a spectacular embarrassing moment like 4th down and forever goes for a winning TD and we lose) then we wont lose much credibility here.

Oline has to show that they deserve the pre-season accolades against a good defense - strength against strength. Time for the Oline to take pride and kick some a--. Not that impressed with Ga. offense, but our D has to play better also. GBO - beat UGA.

Let’s just win it and prove we are not just almost back, but all the way back.

It's why Pruitt is always harping for our defense to create turnovers. I'd like to see our defense go on a little 3 game run and score somehow each game, I think we'd all like the results should it happen. We've turned them over before, no reason to think that we can't again.

We are finally beating teams we should. As much as I want to think we are heading in the right direction I just keep thinking we beat USCjr 2 times, mizzo 2 times, uk,Vandy, uab and Indiana. It’s hard for me to get excited after being kicked in the junk for the past 15 years.
