Pope’s comment about it honestly worries me more than anything. He brags about the WRs 2025 output making the drop issues negligible, but we all know that’s not the case. What? That's a reasonable concern, we had a lot of drops in critical moments last year and if we're having drops in practice I'm naturally going to be worried

Staley, Matthews, and Kits’ (tight end, but same deal) drops against Miss St were the main reason we nearly lost that game. The defense getting a strip sack for a TD bailed them out.
Volume stats (which are mostly a result of the scheme) are a bad excuse for allowing sloppy fundamentals and having a position coach that thinks that way concerns me.
And Mike dropped a TD against Vandy late that could have changed that game. Woulda been 31-28 instead of 31-24 in the fourth.Pope’s comment about it honestly worries me more than anything. He brags about the WRs 2025 output making the drop issues negligible, but we all know that’s not the case.

I listened to the press conference. Austin Price asked about a clip of Tristen Keys and KP mentioned a clip about receivers dropping a pass to say they weren’t going to be good going into the season. I don’t think he was excusing the drops, as he was speaking to production.Pope’s comment about it honestly worries me more than anything. Not much opportunity. We need to be targeting RBs and TEs 12+ times per game imo to make the defense fully defend the whole field, especially with young qbs and helping get the ball out of their hands. Quick throws to flat, screens, late dumps after chipping to get the ball in space etc. That’s been my main complaint with this offense. Peyton and Brady wouldn’t have the legacies they have if not for getting the ball out of their hands to RBs and TEs.Passes to RB was terrible all last season.
How did sanky become the big ten errand boyThe entire offense vs a 9 game SEC schedule that Sankey got punked into.
Definitely gonna be some bumps. I think MM and BS can be very good. But this offense does well when it has a burner, and neither of them have shown that, yet.
I think the biggest news out of camp, is the RB from Tulane. Get out there and run he and DB.

Completely agree. I’m saying if they’re going to drop passes, in the pursuit of getting better, then so be it- but we need to see results this season aka little to no drops this season.Best thing is to hold each other accountable for ending this crap. Yeah, our receivers did well last year. We also had some key drops amongst the receivers and tight ends that cost us. I wasn't a big fan of Pope's comment. He's there to make them better, not make excuses for bad execution.
Last year’s WRs were really good, but the WRs dropping passes has been a problem for Pope’s entire time here regardless of WR talent level.I listened to the press conference. Last year’s receivers were really, really good. Sure there were some drops but a lot of people were unsure about the production in that room and they were the best part of the offense arguably.
I hear you. I’d be curious where we rank on drops on a per season basis. I’m sure some stat company has filed it away but wouldn’t know where to look. I will say our receiver room has infused more talent, especially with the scholarship restrictions we had early on.Last year’s WRs were really good, but the WRs dropping passes has been a problem for Pope’s entire time here regardless of WR talent level.
We excused it early because Joe and Nico threw everything nearly as hard as they could, but it’s becoming hard to ignore as a prevalent issue under him as position coach.
