seems the coaches' poll always slots us behind the AP. I think coaches tend to favor the perrenial/traditional powers. I just hope CBP has the team ready to focus on playing ball & not polls. Besides, we're seeing more than ever these days that preseason polls mean a sum total of squat.

I think g'town is one of the teams that can cause us some serious problems because of the dominant middle, and defensive focus.

Georgetown is good, no doubt. I just think all around UT is a better team and if the Vols kept it running Georgetown's D wouldn't be as powerful as usual. I think the Vols could take them. But it's nice see a top 10 ranking either way. They have all season to move up the ranks.

I look at it and I don't see anyway possible that Duke is deserving of their high ranking other than having Coach K.

I couldn't agree more...

Even if they field a completely sub-par team you won't find them out of the top 15 to start the season

Duke will win 20-25 games and be on the fringe of the Top 10 at the end of the season.

This is coming from a fan... They are fielding a sub par team this year

Edit: unless somehow Thomas and Singler can magically step in and be really good really fast down low. Zoubek is a joke, Paulus just isn't good enough, I hate to say it.

Scheyer will score, Nelson will contribute, and Henderson is the wild card. He showed a lot of flashes last season, but never could string enough together. I don't see them as a top 20 team though.

I hope this years team plays as well as everyone is picking them to play. I am looking forward to the season.

I think they are going to rely heavily on their freshman class this year...

It blows my mind that either Coach K or recruiting experts whiffed so badly on the past two classes for Duke

He has gotten some decent players in those classes but none of them are the dominant college players he is used to having...even though they were mostly McD AA's

Yes. Duke and State will be good. Clemson should make the tournament. That's about it.

I wouldn't count out Virginia for making the tourney. And I think NC State will be better than people think right now. They have a couple of good frosh, including JJ Hickson, who UT wanted.
