ok, ok I am lazy. I am WAY behind on keeping up with this years recruiting class so I am asking a favor for you fellas "in the know?" Can you guys throw me a few "impact guys" that we'll probably see a lot of (or hope to see) and where they'll play? Kinda like a "mock" starting lineup, if we had it our way..... I know this may be asking a lot, but it could be a good post as well. Here is my thank you up front! :salute:

Eric Berry at DB
Chris Donald at LB
Ben Martin at DE
Kenny O'Neal at WR
Brent Vinson at WR
Gerald Jones at WR
Chris Walker at LB
Donald Langley at DT
Rolando Melcancon at DT

Berry, Donald, Martin, Vinson, and Jones will most likely get the most playing time.

Sweet! Now I have some guys I can do "homework" on. This kinda stuff is exactly what I am after. Kinda 'narrows it down' for me to guys I can focus on and what impact they may have.

O'Neal should start, Vinson should start later in the season I think. Berry will have a great chance to start at the other CB spot

It bums me out knowing we have some talent just rotting away in our backyard. I really hope he gets it by this time for the sake of him having a chance to get to the next level.

Am I wrong or do we not count Gerald Williams? What's the deal, can we at least get him qualified academically? Where are the tutors ?

This situation with his academics scares me down the road

It's already down ther road for Gerald and he is nearing the last stop before things go belly up.

To be honest the only players I see playing early are Cooper, O'Neal and Vinson.

Name the last DT that started or played significatly at DT? How about DB? Even Morely didn't play much as a Freshman

i made that statement on another post, fulmer does not like to play freshmen.

Morley didn't have the smarts. Berry does. Marvin Austin is a freak so I doubt we would hold him off of the field(especially with our depth). Gerald Jones would also see some time. Donald may get some reps as may Walker, either Williams, and Martin.

Here is a list of freshmen that have played more than a few snaps over the past few years(not redshirts):

Jacques McLendon-OG
Lucas Taylor-WR
Austin Rogers-WR
Montario Hardesty-TB
Josh Briscoe-WR
Erik Ainge-QB
Chris Brown-TE
Brent Schaeffer-QB
David Holbert-FB
Jonathan Hefney-DB
Bret Smith-WR
Jayson Swain-WR
Jason Allen-DB
James Banks-QB/WR
Chris Hannon-WR
JT Mapu-DT
Gerald Riggs JR-RB
Antwan Stewart-DB
James Wilhoit-K

There were others that played ST/sparingly but these played the most. This bodes well for Vinson/O'Neal/Jones. Saying all of this though, we have not had a player as special as Marvin Austin or Eric Berry in a long time. These guys are on another level and can play right away.

True, but we played Fellows and Hefney as freshmen(Fellows was RS) and Allen and Stewart as well. When the positions are thin, Slade will play freshmen. They will be thin next year.
