Nothing shocking, but nice to get the recognition.

ESPN: Vols signed the best running back class in ’14 | VolNation Blog

Tom Luginbill: Time for the running back position, Craig. The Vols were happy in Knoxville. They’ve got a bunch of them.

Craig Haubert: Yeah, there was a few candidates there. If you look at the Clemson Tigers—Georgia with Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. But you’re right, Tom, Tennessee took the overall top running back class led by Jalen Hurd, a huge in-state pick up—a nice combination of size and speed. Then Darrell Scott late in the process is a versatile player. Overall Tom three 4-star running backs in this class.

Tom Luginbill: Adding depth, adding speed and some explosiveness to the backfield: much needed at Tennessee.

Correct me if I'm off base with this, but...

I remember when we used to recruit high school running backs and turn them into LBs/DBs.

Al Wilson, Eric Westmoreland, and Jason Allen come to mind. Not saying any of these guys (Hurd, Scott, Paulk) should be LBs/DBs, but man, AW, EW, and JA were good.

Maybe Alden Hill could flip...

Yeah, Hill made that monster hit on a kickoff in SC game. He made another one in the GA game and got flagged for taunting. Hopefully learned his lesson.

If there is one thing that makes me very happy about this class it is the talent and depth of talent that is being brought in at RB and DL.

Those are the two postions to me that the last 5 years have been furthest from how they used to be when we were on top.

I agree. Those two positions have been sorely lacking.

I remember he flattened someone on the opening kickoff against UGA (I think) and got a taunting penalty.

Man its hard to believe that we got three damn good RBs in one class. Now if we can at least get two more next yr we could finally have some depth at the position
