I disagree that UCONN was clearly better than Florida, and you can watch a year of basketball to see the proof. The tourney favors teams like UT and UCONN, who peak at the right time. It makes it exciting.

The system the NBA and MLB use? Best of 7, is clearly how you tell who the "best" team is. Otherwise luck or a thousand outliers can decide it if it's only one night.

Well, we can debate all day about who is better or not. While I understand your point, Florida had two chances at beating UConn, and you don't always get that second chance. Call it bad match up, superior guard play, I don't care. But, UConn proved it on the court that they were "better" than Florida.

I probably agree with you, but this is the system that we have. The sport that generates the most money in the history of sports has the same system, and wild card teams have won Super Bowls recently. It creates excitement, and every team knows that they can go on a 6 win run to cut down the nets. Do you honestly believe that any team other than the Heat or Spurs will win the NBA title? It is the same system that we all played with from elementary school to high school. I thought Florida was a great team this year, but they couldn't beat UConn....twice.

Good post as usual gee. But I'd take action on that NBA final. Gonna go with the Thunder this yr.

Yea, I could see that. But they just haven't been able to do it yet. I know the Spurs are old, but somehow they just keep on winning.

Totally agree. You beat a team twice, you are better than they are. Just like UT losing to UF 3 times. We might have beat them once in 10 if we were lucky. To all the 'We coulda been cutting down the net' folks. We weren't as good as anyone in the Elite 8, the Final 4 or the Championship. We made it as far as we were meant to.

Why do fans say "we" when referring to their favorite team?

Do they go through practice, team events or meetings? Does a coach contact them for advice or their input on the depth chart?

I appreciate a fans loyalty and love for the team(s) they cheer for, but as a fan....there is no we. We as fans cheer for people who have no idea who "we" are nor will most ever find out. So let's cheer for our teams and quit acting like "we" are part of them.

Every fan say's we. Seen it many times on the boards. And not one of those people played for the teams I'm sure. I've seen a few but not many. I have no problem with any fan who has devoted time and interest to use we when referring to the teams. It is 'we' to them.

Problem is, how many times do people switch to "they" when talking about a loss? It's always "we" during good times, but the moment it goes bad, these fans dissociate themselves by saying "they".
