Vols ranked #4 in latest AP poll

Yeah very true, 1-2 against top 25 teams thus far but both losses were on the road.

Florida has a weak SOS compared to Bama, Us and even Auburn...so they should be able to finish without many more Ls but they might be overseeded and get upset come March.

at 1 Auburn
at 22 Mississippi State
vs 10 A&M
at 3 Bama
vs 25 Ole Miss

That's the only ranked games left on their schedule
dude you should see how soft Missouri's schedule is down the stretch. If they somehow beat us a 1 seed isn't out of question

Someone who goes .500 in the SEC this year literally will have FF possibilities. Brutal
I said 13-5 or 14-4 wins the league. Auburn may exceed that, but they are elite, and we took them to the wire in their gym. Gave UF their payback, now need to do the same with UK and Candy and all will be right with the world. 6-3 or 7-2 in the last 9 SEC games will land us a #1 seed. I like 12-6 in this league and 25-6 overall and we are in the top 5 come tournament time. Auburn, Bama and UT in the final top 5 from SEC heading to the tournament.

Just posting this to show how fluid rankings are and how fast things can change with as much parity as there is in CBB, and as brutal as this league is. Freaking out after every loss is ridiculous, because one big win can change everything. The most important thing is how we look and how our health is in the middle of March.

What do you mean “in trouble”? They’re not remotely a bubble team right now. Sure, if they go on a losing streak that could change.

You answered yourself.

18-4 and outside the top 25 in the AP right now with no real quality wins to make up ground would lead me to believe they'll be a pretty low seed based on record regardless, but if they drop another 4+ games they could end up very low and be "in trouble" of an early exit in March.

Still not sure I'm buying Bama just yet.

They have 3 losses

Still have this stretch of games to end the season

vs Auburn
at Missouri
vs Kentucky
vs Miss State
at Tennessee
vs Florida
at Auburn

That's the end of their season and they'll have no byes between any of those games.
3 losses in there. And Auburn may get them twice.

That's the last AP top 25 teams left as of today... if they only lose 2 more they very well could end up in the discussion as a 1 seed, especially with how good the SEC is.

I respectfully disagree. Their non-conference SOS was putrid (#356), even with Kansas annd Illinois. Even if they win all four of those they won’t have enough quality wins to earn a #1 seed, IMO. I think their ceiling is a #2.

This is the time of year when it gets fun, as you can see the bracket start rounding into shape. The Selection Committee releases their top 16 seeds a week from Saturday. I’d love to hold serve and beat Bama so we can get the #1 in the Midwest (3rd overall) as opposed to being sent out West.

Talking Missouri?

Yeah I really doubt they'll get a 1 seed. 15th in latest AP, but still 21st in NET...and even with that weak OOC SOS they lost 2 games. They however have only lost to Quad 1 teams, and none of them were at home.

They do have some wins already that help and they could pick up as many as 4 more.

beat Kansas at home
beat Florida at swamp

But yeah, 10 games left and only 2 of them aren't against Quad 1 (vs OU and vs South Carolina). Still they'd need to go 8-2 I think to even be in the conversation for a 1 or 2 seed.

I think they'll catch quite a few losses though in this final stretch. They do however have one of the easiest remaining schedules in the SEC.

Auburn gets 5 top 15 teams, 3 on the road
Bama gets 6 top 15 teams, 3 on the road
Vols get 4 top 15 teams, 2 on the road

Mizzou has 4, but 3 of them they get at home...we're the only big road game left

Yes, I was speaking of Missouri. Wouldn’t surprise me to see the SEC with three #1 seeds on Selection Sunday.

Would be nice to see 3 SEC teams as 1 seed but it won't happen.

Putting on my Nostradamus hat, the tea leaves show Aub 1 seed, Ala 2 seed, Vols 2 seed,
Mz 4 seed, Ky 4 seed.

Take it to the bank.
In Lunardi's latest projected bracket, he has 3 SEC teams as #1 seeds. Auburn, Tennessee, and Alabama.
I know he doesn't necessarily pick the seeds, but it's a good sign there may necessarily be 3 SEC #1's.
Incidentally, I love the bracket he currently has us in. Duke's bracket I also wouldn't mind having.

Same. I'd sign up for this bracket, right now! Other than playing out west, it's about perfect.

A good spot after a big win that I expected them to lose especially down two starters. They are still offensive challenged but the defense travels.

I wanted to post this to get this thread off of 66 replies.

That's what we say a lot. Do we really want to be out West?
Do we know the host sites out west yet? I live out that way so maybe I could swing a trip to see us play. It’s been a long time since I got to attend a game in person.

Edit: looks like it could be Denver. That would be very doable. I’m getting excited!

Sheet man, I'd take the bracket we in a heart beat. Missouri was the only team I was necessarily worried about and we showed, we can beat them tonight.
I'd be fine with playing out west all day for that bracket.
