Yep. Considering the comparative losses of the two teams and last year's head to head result.

Cal in respect for oski may be a better team. But like last year's overhype, nothing they did last year or return this year suggest they should be ranked that highly.

OTOH, I hope all of the polls do begin with a slap to UT's collective face. They might need a reason to be really ticked again when they play Cal, USM, and UF.

BTW, after looking at last year's game, I predicted that UT would win and that there was a fairly significant chance that it would be lopsided... That analysis, like this one, was based on what Cal had done the previous year, against whom, and what they had returning.

I hear ya about the who we beat last year. But as for those returning, this is the best talent and experience that Cal has had returning in probably 50 years. I agree preseason polls are meaningless though. Particurally since we will be ranked lower this year than last even though we had a completely new offensive line and QB last season (I guess those positions aren't important ) Beat you guys and we'll probably be in the top-10 by week 2. Lose to you and who cares where they ranked us?

Does anybody in their right mind (so stay out of it Tidwell) think UT will be in the top 10? Dont miss the point that Tennessee football has now become NC State/Clemson/Texas A&M/Oregon State. Welcome to the "good/decent" world and say goodbye to "great/elite". Now that Saban is at Bama in a few years the SEC will be all Bama vs Florida with LSU & UGA once in a while. Mark my words.
