Jonathan Watters. He's a 2010 QB prospect who seems like a PERFECT fit for Kiffin's offense. In my opinion, he even looks the part. He's in GA but with UGA already probably signing 2 top 15 QB recruits in 09 other schools look more and more like a possibility. He's already mentioned UT as one of his favorites. Check him out. I may be wrong, but check watch out for this kid.

A long and athletic competitor, Watters has tremendous upside. He has excellent arm strength and can make all of the throws. As he spends more time in the weight room, he will mature physically and his body will catch up to his big-league arm. He is comfortable in the pocket and squares up nicely on the run. He already possesses the intangible of leadership and he is clearly in control of his huddle.

the problem that no one on the recruiting forum or over here understands is... We are not looking at a possible 3-star recruit, or someone who may have a big season and crack the Rivals 250, we are in on Heaps, who may be the number 1 player in High School Football, Sims who could be a top 50 football player, we don't look for rough emeralds anymore, we are on Polished Diamonds

Isn't Heaps a Mormon who's taking a mission after his freshman year? If so, I'd rather just pass on him and go get someone who can stay for 4 straight years.

It's not like he is going to come back an old and decrepit man. Talent like that kid has, you take him and if he goes on a mission, you wait.

Is there anything that jumps out about this kid to you? Have you seen him play?

It's worked really well for Ben Olson...

I don't know, basically forgetting all about football for 2 years, and chances are, not having access to good workout facilities, ..etc just don't seem good to me.

Instead of that, why not just go after the #2 QB who would stay all 4 years?

16 of BYU's 22 starters had went on their mission trips already. Chances are, we'll sign 2 QBs next year.

I agree bburger, why get someone in and work with them then he goes for 1 or 2 years on mission then your back at square 1 when he returns. Go after someone who plans on giving us 2 to 4 straight years of contribution. Too much risk with a very little upside for a scholarship. Tebow is very dedicated to his faith but he also plays football each year.

And?

And yeah, we'll probably sign 2, but do you think if we sign the #1 QB the #2 or 3 will want to come with him?

and they seem to be doing alright for themselves. It didn't appear like they forgot how to play football. Before you say that's BYU and they don't play in the SEC, they also weren't considered top 5 players in the country.

Sure they're doing ok, but they're still playing mediocre teams, and getting beat by the good ones..

I mean, I know they won't forget, but do you think while they're in the middle of Africa or something, they'll be studying a playbook, fixing their technique, ..etc?

I would rather just have a player come in, learn the same system for 4 years who could get coached up every day, than basically have them waste the first year of their eligibility, and have them at square one when they get back.

The sizes listed for all the 2010 guys are from camps after their sophomore years. They have plenty of time to grow and develop.
