For the second straight practice, Brian Maurer took all the first reps — in both run-game work and pass skeleton. The freshman was sporting a new big sleeve on his right arm, misfiring on several early throws before settling in. Josh Palmer was the star of routes on air though, making several impressive catches. Jarrett Guarantano still had his left hand heavily wrapped and JT Shrout wore a left knee brace.
...freshman left tackle Wanya Morris (left ankle) was a non-participant.
Freshman right tackle Darnell Wright (ankle) worked with Jackson Lampley and the 3s during individual work, but he did slot in for a couple reps with the first-team group (Johnson, Trey Smith, Brandon Kennedy, Jerome Carvin). Wright was clearly hobbled and looks questionable for Saturday.

Along the offensive line, Wanya Morris didn’t practice. The freshman tackle has been dealing with a shoulder injury. Fellow freshman Darnell Wright, who is dealing with an ankle, was dressed out and working a little bit with the third team. Jahmir Johnson worked at left tackle in Morris’ spot, while Marcus Tatum worked with the ones and twos at right tackle.

Tennessee managed to make it through the UAB game without Wright and Jahmir Johnson, and the Vols may have to go without their top two options at tackles if both freshmen wind up sidelined on Saturday night.
It's worth noting here that Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt has said in the past that Guarantano doesn't need as many reps as the two freshman quarterbacks do.

Maurer threw the ball much better on Wednesday than he did on Tuesday.
Of note, it appeared the Vols are working on some looks with four defensive linemen on the field as they look to beef up against Kentucky's run-heavy offense. At safety, Theo Jackson and Jaylen McCollough were platooning and doubling up on reps alongside Nigel Warrior.

Not when EVERY one of our QBs is wearing a cast/wrap/support of some kind on at least one appendage. Got to work with what we have but I do hope Maurer can come back in and sling it.
Have to admit I was quite taken back seeing that all of them are wearing some type of contraption. Sounds like we need all three to be ready to go at any given time.
