Will Ignont, Shannon Reid and Jacquez Jones were not at practice this afternoon. Jahmir Johnson and Tim Jordan were in attendance. Johnson worked off to the side. Jordan was at the front of drills. With Ignont and Reid seemingly on the move, freshman Aaron Beasley was back working with the inside linebackers.

Took roll of the entire roster at practice today. Did not see: - WR Jacquez Jones - LB Shanon Reid - LB Will Ignont TE Dom Wood-Anderson was also absent, but he’s been dealing with a foot injury in recent weeks. OT Wanya Morris was limited in today’s practice. So was OT Jahmir Johnson. Jarrett Guarantano was the first QB in every individual drill.

Shanon Reid, Will Ignont, Jacquez Jones, DWA and Jerrod Means not at practice. Sources say Ignont and Jones missed yesterday, too. DWA has been ailed by a foot injury of late. None are in the NCAA transfer portal as of 4 p.m.

Shannon Reid & Jacquez Jones have officially entered the @NCAA Transfer Portal, per source with direct knowledge.

Jarrett Guarantano was taking the first-team reps during all three open periods, including routes on air. Freshmen Brian Maurer and JT Shrout rotated behind Guarantano.
With no Reid or Ignont, Aaron Beasley moved back to inside linebackers. It’s the freshman’s fifth position move in a month (safety, linebacker, running back, safety, linebacker). The Vols had six scholarships inside linebackers taking reps, with Daniel Bituli and Henry To’oto’o leading the drills, following by Jeremy Banks, JJ Peterson and Solon Page.
The cornerbacks and wideouts did a press-coverage drill to end a period, with Bryce Thompson winning both his reps, same for Kenneth George. Overall, the receivers struggled in the session. Alontae Taylor appeared to tweak his hamstring on the final rep of the drill.
Offensive lineman Wanya Morris and Jahmir Johnson were on the stationary bikes. Notably, Emmit Gooden (ACL) is already doing some light work on the bike as well just a couple weeks off surgery.

Maurer and Shrout appeared to get more of the reps and throws in Tuesday's routes-on-air work, but that's not the first time that has happened. It was a common approach for the Vols during the preseason as they looked to get the young quarterbacks as many reps as possible. If the Vols truly are opening up the competition or considering making a chance, they weren't really tipping their hand on Tuesday afternoon. With slot receivers Jacquez Jones entering the transfer portal and Jordan Murphy having already left, Brandon Johnson took reps out of the slot on Tuesday.

Cornerback Bryce Thompson appeared to be limited in some light-contact work but was going through some drills on Tuesday after getting knocked out of the Florida game
One freshman to keep in mind moving forward might be offensive lineman Chris Akporoghene. He missed a lot of time during the preseason while coming back from an injury, but he's gotten an increasing amount of work in recent works and appears to be close to healthy. Notably he took some reps at left guard between center Brandon Kennedy and right tackle K'Rojhn Calbert during Tuesday's work.
Freshman walk-on wide receiver Isaiah Montgomery made a highlight-reel one-handed catch on an out route that had quarterbacks and his fellow receivers cooing in appreciation.

As much as I want a change at qb, maybe Pruitt is letting JG take the punches from Georgia and Bama. I never say quit, but let’s be honest we don’t have the team to compete with those guys this year. If we were playing sound ball I would say any given Saturday but JG can’t lead and the defense looks lost more times than not.

I’m guessing the Defense is growing tired of playing hard just to have JG waste it.

Pruitt is betting his career on a lame horse.

Or he's making a calculated decision to let JG get slaughtered in the Murderer's Row stretch before trotting out Shrout and / or Maurer.

Frankly, I'd just start Shrout and see what he gives us, but I can understand the rationale that you'd rather break in a new QB after Georgia and Bama.

They do on the 11 on 11 drills. These videos are just a fraction of the practice. It doesn't seem to make any difference, though.

This is prime time for the backups to get major reps, but JG the practice warrior is running with the 1's and will look great in practice and will look like stomped manure once the lights come on. Wake up, what did BM do at Florida that JG didn't do??? I can only think of one thing, BM lead them on a scoring drive and JG with MANY more snaps never did. We are 1-4 with JG being one of the major contributors to that, not the only one but a MAJOR one and we are still playing a dead horse. And I say that because he plays like he is lifeless and broken qb, give the rest of the team and fans a lift and play the other guys and at least let them make their mistakes now. Play BM and Shrout, let them compete it out on the field and let the hot hand rise to the top. Playing JG is pointless at this stage. Everyplace on this team can grow, but if the Qb isn't growing it doesn't mean a damn. GBO!!!!!

This is truly funny! Hahahaha! It just never stops. I have never seen so many football coaches in one spot. Honestly, not trying to single one person out, but I’m more embarrassed by our fan base than our record. I’ve been a fan for 40 years. It hurts me bad to see our team in this shape. Vols football, and football in general has always been my favorite hobby. I played for as long as I can remember and all through high school. I read about it and follow it all year. I LOVE IT AND I LOVE MY TEAM! I ask that all of you try and learn some basic football concepts. Maybe it might help you realize the situation this staff is in. It’s an all-star staff, PERIOD!!!! Whatever.

If BM goes in and gets stomped by GA, it could finish any hope he ever had of being a good QB. No way in hell anyone on this site is better than our coaches. If you think you are.........
