You're probably right. I do have a problem with rewarding a man a contract extension for failure. Not pulling the plug on fulmanure in 2005 like he should have. Thats costing us right now, bigtime.

UM is 85-17 as a HC at the collegiate level with 2 NCs in the last 4 years. LK is 1-1 and 5-15 as a HC in the NFL. I'll give him a pass on the NFL stint because of the nutjob owner at Raiders, but then again I have to question the judgment of anyone who would work for Al Davis. Up to now LK has proven nothing (except that he can land a hot wife). There's no question that UM has the upper hand on ALL other coaches in the SEC. I like having Saban as our HC, but ultimately he has to back up the expectations with results. Recruiting rankings don't determine national championships.

If UM stays at UF after this year they will not implode. He's been recruiting great talent and the cupboard is stocked, and he knows how to use the talent that's available. LK has not demonstrated this ability.

Being the AD is all politics. Hamilton was still new in the job in 2005; even if he had considered it, there's no way he would have stuck his neck out and fired a long-term, NC-winning coach unless a consensus had been reached among the top boosters. I don't hold that against him even though Fulmer was pretty obviously done in 2005. The extension was clearly ridiculous, but given Thornton's extremely public criticism of Hamilton after 2007 for not being "supportive enough" of Fulmer, it strikes me as likely that that wasnt entirely Hamilton's idea too.

It must be a really strange job to have.

Phillip should go into politics. He was good at worming his way to the top. I don't know but its a shame that it was let get to this point. Thats all i'm saying, i guess we can thank Phillip for it all. But i'm no fan of Hamilton's, looks like another worm to me.

I don't understand this. If Meyer goes somewhere else, in this case Notre Dame.... Notre Dame would have to pay his buy out. The only reason Tennessee paid Fulmer's buy out was because they fired him. Florida will never fire Urban Meyer so they wouldn't have gotten screwed over if they made his buyout 6 million. Notre Dame would have been giving Florida 6 million. Now Notre Dame only has to give them half a million.

Give him time to demonstrate with HIS talent that he brings in. Good Lord, 90% of the team is Foolmers recruits.

A lot of people saying Meyer to the NFL...as what? Head coach, please...that offense would absolutely. Not work in the league. He's a fantastic college coach, maybe the best but I do not see the NFL in his future...

if you win enough some nfl team will give it a shot. no way he goes to nd. he would hvae gone there last time if he wanted to.

Meyer's buyout is only half a mil? That's pocket change for the boosters at ND---Weis will get fired this year, and the Catholics will be on the plane heading to Gville baby!!!
