Now that the match-up is officially set, we know there will be 1 former Vol in Super Bowl LIX:

Kansas City's Trey Smith (Guard)

This marks the 3rd straight Super Bowl to have at least 1 Vol on either team's roster.

It also means that 31 of the last 34 Super Bowls have involved teams having at least 1 Vol on one of their rosters. (The ones that didn't in that span: XLIII (2009), LV (2021), LVI (2022))

Ima go ahead and claim Patty Mahomes as an honorarty Vol to help with recruting lol - Texas Tech yall dont need em! I do wonder what having percievably th best QB in the league does for recruting. Im sure for years recruiters were like : "PEYTON PEYTON PEYTON," like some dang zomboies lol. Dont blame em!

If Trey leaves KC, like most are saying he will, this streak maybe in peril next year.

Fair chance it’s fine. Pre-offseason, 20 of the 32 NFL teams have a former Vol on their main overall roster (19 out of 31 if you want me to remove the Chiefs).

The following teams have one or more former Vols on their main overall roster:

Atlanta
Carolina
Chicago
Cleveland
Detroit
Houston
Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Rams
Las Vegas
Miami
Minnesota
New England
New Orleans
New York Giants
Pittsburgh
San Francisco
Seattle
Tampa Bay
Tennessee

(Note: I didn’t include Dallas, Green Bay, and Jacksonville. There is a former Vol sort of on the teams, but they’re all on practice squads.)

And there’s a good chance of that total number going up anywhere from 1-3 teams after the draft.
