For the past few weeks, Tennessee has been projected in the Citrus Bowl. Now all of a sudden LSU is pegged for the Citrus and the Vols in the Cotton. Now I hope the Vols can somehow get into the Sugar but the next best thing is the Citrus. Vols have not had a good recent history in the Cotton. It seems like LSU has a voter drive on the Capital One site to get LSU an invite. Normally, I think these things are bogus but it can't be a coincidence that LSU is suddenly the favorite to land here.

Here's the link to vote UT in the Citrus Bowl: http://fcsports.collegesports.com/sports/s...s-cap-body.html

Thanks! GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!

I can only recall twice that I can remember the VOLS playing in the Cotton Bowl ( know they have quite a bit, but I am talking in my life time).

The first was a win over Lou Holtz and the Razorbacks and the loss to KSU. 1-1 isnt so bad as far as recent history.

Did I miss a game somewhere?

Well, UT got crushed by KSU in the Cotton in '01. The score didn't indicate how badly they were beaten. They won in '89 against Ken Hatfield's Arkansas. Not sure about the Lou Holtz one that was mentioned. To be quite honest, a group of us will go to the Citrus and like sitting in 70 degree sun. As for the Cotton, forget about sitting in 35 degrees and sleet. I prefer the Citrus over the Cotton. Just seems like there are a lot of politics with bowls in Florida the past few years. Tennessee had a problem last year with Florida jumping UT into the Outback Bowl. What's going on down there?? Even in the Coaches poll, the Vols don't get the credit they deserve. Sure, they've struggled the past few weeks but they've never been given credit for the Georgia win. If it were up to CBS they'd have UGA in the SEC Championship game. Is there anything flying under the radar that is hurting Tennessee??? I know about the Alabama stuff. There seems to be underhanded remarks against Tenn in the media every week.

The fans of the Florida colleges are notorious for not following the teams to bowls that are out of state, and the only time Florida fans want to go to Atlanta is for the SECCG. They could care less about their team in the Peach Bowl, which is why they went to the Outback and we went to the Peach last year.

I always thought the "traditional" ties were the SEC champ went to the Sugar, with the SECCG loser going to the Cotton, and the 2nd place team from the winner's division going to the Bowl formerly known as the Citrus (Capital One).

I wouldn't mind seeing Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl, since it's close to me. But I would love to see them in the Sugar Bowl, and the Citrus would be ok. I wish they would crush Texas so their fans would leave me alone about my Tennessee jacket.

OK, it looks like an Old Timer needs to step up here.

Tennessee has appeared in FIVE Cotton Bowls.

1951 vs Texas (W 20-14)

1953 vs Texas (L 16-0)

1969 vs Texas (L 36-13)

I remember watching the '69 game on TV and it was EMBARRASSING!

Texas ran an early version of the triple-option under Darrell Royal and just spanked our :shakeit:!

The Beevos rang up 513 yards of total offense while holding the Vols to 83 yards rushing. The Vols also gave up EIGHT turnovers (5 fumbles and 3 interceptions.)

Tennessee's sole bright spots were two Bobby Scott TD passes.

Overall, the Vols are 2-3 in the Cotton Bowl, and 1-2 vs Texas.

LSU is going because they are 9-2 and have never been to the Citrus.

I want to go to the Cotton so I am content
