that’s part of the reason i like em. Adds some contrast which i like. Makes the orange numbers pop more and easier to see. Im sure its also why they wear the black outlines/names in practice. Biggest reason is prob nostalgia honestly. Thats what i grew up seeing them wear. These days they wear some hideous alternate jersey so often im just happy to see them wear traditional orange and white however it comes.Weren't the black outlines around the numbers introduced to make it easier for the broadcasters calling the games to read them? That's my recollection. Of course, that was before the days of HD TV. I don't miss the black outlines at all. The White unis are clean. The thing I don't like is how the pants have turned into bicycle shorts.
It doesn't make the orange pop. The black pops because it clashes with the rest of the uniform. It was a practical choice, back in the day. But it stopped serving a purpose 20 years ago when HD became the standard. It looks bush league now. I grew up with the black outline/cleats too. It was always an eyesore that we tolerated.that’s part of the reason i like em. Adds some contrast which i like. Makes the orange numbers pop more and easier to see. Yep. It changes the shade of orange to a darker/redder shade. It’s not Tennessee. Thank God it’s gone.It doesn't make the orange pop. The black pops because it clashes with the rest of the uniform. You are correct, the complaint was without the black outlines it was difficult to distinguish the orange numbers. Yes, I am that old and more,Weren't the black outlines around the numbers introduced to make it easier for the broadcasters calling the games to read them? That's my recollection.
