It looks like Tony Clemmons signed with the 1987 class. This is from the 1987 guide:

Can you imagine signing a lineman at 6-2 and 240 now?!?!?!?

Nothing against him of course, but my how the game has changed....

Maybe they had him targeted as a linebacker since he played that position too, but his identifier after his name was "L" and not "LB".

Rules change allowing OL to use their hands made it a big mans game. If today's OL had to keep their hands in and depend totally on their ability to stay in front of the DL, they couldn't play. Totally different game now.

I think in those days "L" also included linebackers (they're using the very generic designations of "back" and "lineman," with linebackers being included in "lineman"). I'm pretty sure he played at LB, and only played OT in high school.
