Vols have suffered 18 25+ point losses since Fulmer left

Fulmer's strong point was recruiting but he enjoyed a relatively easy era in which to do so. The recruiting environment changed with the rise of the ACC and with USCe joining the SEC.
South Carolina joined the SEC in 1992, before Fulmer became coach, the ACC currently is pretty much Clemson and 11 also-rans, just like it was FSU and a bunch of also-rans in the 90's.

What an absolute joke.

This post is a new low even for this site.

Blaming posters for the last decade of futility like it's the damned posters suiting up on Saturdays, calling plays, or making the hiring and firing decisions.

The only thing that bought Fulmer a reprieve from a quicker exit was Cutcliffe having heart trouble and being forced to turn down ND.

He came back to the Vols and had a large hand in those seasons you referred to in 2006 and 2007.

Once Cutcliffe left again, the wheels, not surprisingly, came off the program again with no discipline and embarrassing losses to Bama and UF.

Your hero is back in the fold running the show so stop whining. Remains to be seen if he can still make a coaching hire on his own though.

Dumb response! The man never got time to fix what went wrong. The very season after competing for the SEC title, the man was canned. That's stupid!

Dude, we are 57-57 since Fulmer was fired, Fulmer was 152-52 in 16 seasons. 49-27 in his last 6 seasons, tied for 23rd in wins over that 6 year period from 03 to 08, in other words, on average a Top 25 team, from 2009 to present we are 71st in wins. Say what you wish about me, these numbers speak for themselves.

Oh brother, so 8-4.5 is a Top 25 team now? "Tied for 23rd?" Where did you pull that stat from... wait a minute, let me guess. There were also two 5 loss seasons over that stretch, Fulmer had already cashed in his chips and retired on active duty. We are where we are right now because of Fulmer, he put us in this situation and I will never understand why people still worship this guy.

"The job of the offense is to get a few first downs then punt" Phillip Fulmer

The Firing of Fulmer by AN UTTERLY CORRUPT AND INCOMPETENT ADMINISTRATION was and absolute disaster. Without considering the powers pushing him out, one cannot properly judge whether firing or supporting the HoF coach is good or not. I lived through the 70s and early 80s and did my part to warn anyone who would listen, that going back into that dark world would be VERY easy if we choose to fire. To my chagrin, we are literally THERE now. The worst has befallen us.

Hopefully, the young man from Rainsville, AL is capable of leading us out of the wilderness.

That sounds nice. However, if Hamilton does the right thing and hires Gary Patterson after firing fulmer, these last 10 years turn out much differently.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts...thing is he didnt hire Patterson. Haslam is used to getting what he wants. He has royally bent this program over and done it dry.

I would like to see Tennessee win at least three conference games this season so we could at least believe we are going in the right direction. I think we may be at least a couple years down the line to having any kind of SEC competitive team. Even though we seem to have a lot of four star players on the roster vs teams like Missouri, W Va, Vandy, Kentucky we don't seem to have enough guys that play to that level. I think it has to start happening this season another 0 and 8 or even 1 and 7 SEC with be hard to take.
