* Jordan Murphy: "His whole year's a highlight tape," Welton said. "It really is, and any time you turn that thing on, it's just game after game (he's) making great catches. He's a special athlete. His ball skills, what he can do in the air, he just knows how to get open — he's a dynamic, dynamic football player."

* Jacquez Jones: "The kid's electric," Welton said. "He can fly. He's one of those guys that can take a hitch and go 90 (yards) without anybody blocking for him. He's that fast, and we felt like, especially in this receiving group, we had to get faster, and we certainly did. This kid, he's a great punt returner. He could be a kick returner. He's one of those guys you're going to have a hard time keeping off the field next year just because of what he brings."

* Josh Palmer: "This kid is unbelievable," Welton said. "He's got size, he's got speed and he's competitive. The best thing about this kid is he really knows how to get open, and when the ball's in hand, he knows what to do with it. It was a great job to get this kid late by Coach Azzanni and was a great pickup. He could be really special."

These guys are studs, and they comprise a real solid set of WR's for this class. Can't wait to see them take the field.

How confident are we on Murphy qualifying academically or has he already qualified?

So based on this, you're saying we don't need to cancel the season, program, and bury all of our orange memorabilia in a hole in our backyards?

Jennings is aggressive and will be a dependable WR again next season, but we need a new guy like Johnson, Williams, Byrd, Callaway, George or one of these three to step up big to help out our new QB. The nice thing is there are a lot of options at WR.

One thing to look for, which QB's and WR's takes the initiative to spend the summer in Knoxville and work on timing routes?

I have watched Palmer's film the most. If he was playing all these years in Fl instead of Canada he would have been top 100 player. Just one year and to play in FL at the highest of competition and was Second Team All State with all those Athletes in State. We got a steal here. This and many others like Solon Page Riley Locklear Matthew Butler Kivon Bennett Marquez Bembry should I continue. We did better than many want to admit they just see a 3 star beside a kids name but fail to look into why maybe this rating is just that. Barton Simmons hinks our class is much better than ranking and said we signed a fast class remember on the field speed kills and with Rock manning our Strength department I like.

Our defensive staff is becoming very competitive. I hope we get to see all these players properly developed into stars.

Here's what I see

OLB, GA
6'3" 205 4.5 40

OLB, FL
6'2" 210 4.5 40

DL, NC
6'4" 275 4.7 40

CB, LA
6'0 185 4.4 40

FS, TN
6'1" 180 4.4 40

WR, FL
6'2 200 4.4 40

This class has all kinds of talent.

I hope that a couple of them are good enuf to allow Byrd to move to defense.

That's exactly what's going to happen.

Murphy and Palmer are too talented not to see playing time.

Calloway and Williams adds more spark.

Josh Smith, Jennings and Johnson will be the clutch guys.

Jones would be a good replacement for Byrd's role on offense. That would allow Byrd to play DB. However, I want him wherever he shows the most potential.

Maybe they just need to give Byrd a number nobody else wears so he can play both ways without screwing up and getting flagged.

I think this is the exact same article that was written last year, just changed the names.

I don't see an elite receiver on this team. It will have to be by committee.

Id feel a lot better if it didn't take ZA 3 years to get productivity out of talent, and no one here is close to Malone in regards to talent.

I think Brandon Johnson and Marquez Callaway are good enough for that. Sounds like Welton believes these 3 freshmen have immense potential and I trust him. But for this year, give me a rotation of Jennings, Johnson, Smith and Callaway and let the freshmen develop and learn unless one is just too special to sit down.

You may be on to something...and it may be our problem.

2016 Roster had 29 (of 99) players whose first or last name started with a J. First names alone were 23 - almost 46% higher than US population as a whole.

Bammers only had 17 J first names. We're obviously J heavy...problem solved.

Really comes down to the work ethic doesn't it? I think if we want to get a good barometer of how things are going to go this year on the field (1) watch the spring competitions at positions (2) listen for updates on S&C (3) see who gets chosen as captains (4) watch how those captains perform as leaders (5) see who sticks around for summer workouts without the coaches. :hi:

That would be on offense then. Much like CP the man is electric with the ball in his hands
