Coach Serrano made a great point in his post game comments. It is important to get to .500 in the SEC. Yes, it is only 2-2 and very early. But a .500 record in a division with this kind of competition is not bad at all. It is miles of improvement from where this program has been the past few years. :whistling::whistling:A team that went to the CWS last year is 0-4.:whistling:

This is the nature of SEC baseball. Unless you are a Florida or an SC, you're goal is to be .500 in the best conference in America. The formula for this kind of success is to win series at home and avoid sweeps on the road. This seems like undershooting sometimes but in reality, it is the road to an 8 team Hoover. With 10 teams its a bit different. Making it to Hoover and being above .500 overall is not the absolute answer anymore. You still need to find yourself in the top 8 to feel good about your regional chances. .500 in conference and above .500 out of conference should land you in a regional.

Kentucky had a great start of the season. Showed that they are the best in the SEC this year imo.

This is hardly payback for football though haha.

Remember, 26-1! I'll take this one and consider it payback for football, haha!

If you all think a baseball win is even close to a SEC football win, then there's something wrong with you...SEC football is miles ahead of any other sport other than basketball.

And i stand by my statement that they are the best SEC team this year. They'll probably show a classic kentucky finish by losing a bunch, but they are quite talented and can beat anyone.

:lolabove: Really? The best in the SEC? You couldn't hold Florida's jock strap. I have little doubt you'll be in a regional, but here's betting you wont host.

Which is it? Best in SEC or talented enough to beat anyone in the SEC?
If they "lose a bunch" and lose the league, they're not the best team.

And in the SEC, as much as I like basketball, it is miles behind football.

THis game showed why they play the games.

Major win for Serrano, and the Vols in the young SEC season to give the Wildcats their first loss. Feels excellent for the Vols to beat the first team to hand them their first loss.
Hope that game one was no fluke, and can win again on Saturday to take the series, and even their division record.

Godley lived up to his name playing on another level that helped the Vols declaw the Wildcats.
Wildcats had chances but they were denied by a Vols defense that contained them including a terrific jump catch to end the 8th.
For this game the Wildcats made major errors includin what should have been a out with a bunt in the 8th.
