Tennessee fans have to be jacked up about the upcoming season.
There are not many high expectations outside of Knoxville, but first-year Coach Lane Kiffin and his staff have energized Vol Nation to a level that hasn't been seen on campus in years.
Kiffin is young, an eternal optimist and believes his staff and players can shock some people in the SEC this season.
He might just pull it off, up to a point.
Kiffin has some highly promising players that are true freshmen and he is not hesitant to use them. As more high profile recruits enter the program, they may push some veterans aside for playing time. That type of competition makes for a better football team.
Look for running backs Bryce Brown, David Oku and wideout/tailback Nu'Keese Richardson to get the rock early and often. Practice reports indicate they are using Richardson in what they call the Nu-Gun, their rariation of the popular Wildcat formation.
Practice sessions are intense leading into the season opener against Western Kentucky.
An 8-4 record is not out of the question and I think anything less than 6-6 will be disappointing

Joe biddle must just hate UT with a passion. 6-6? I guess he thinks that stellar vandy team is going to kick our butts. Sorry joe, phil's no longer here, the odds of vandy even being competitive just went down.

Biddle is a long time Spurrier homer since they went to high school together. He has carried that grudge against UT ever since Spurrier got to Florida. If he moved on to another paper, I would read the Tennessean more.

EB says a 10 win season is needed to be successful. Maybe he has a point, considering how close we were last year to 8-4. But Il be happy with 7-5.

It's odd,but I've always liked Joe Biddle, but mainly because he was a thorn in George Plasters side. I mean, those guys Plaster has working for him now are lap dogs.

I'm with you on Biddle being always being too down on UT.
