Ive noticed lots of people whose location is not in TN and I always read your posts. I like to see us well represented outside of TN as well as in. I REALLY like the Vols fans in Florida and Bammer, but have noticed some places I didnt expect like Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Illinois, etc.

Just out of curiousity how did you all become Vols fans?

Are there a lot of Vols fans where you are?

Any good stories?

Im especially interested in the people who were not born here but love the Vols but also want to hear from the transplants as well.

Thanks!

I live in Dallas. I was born and raised in Knoxville, went to Farragut High School. Moved to Texas for my job. Lots of Tennessee fans here...more than I thought there would be. But Dallas is so big and so many people move here...there are a lot of teams that are represented.

I grew up in South Tennessee until I left to go to college in NC, it always surprises me the amount of Vol support I see here in Charlotte. A lot of people here cheer for the vols because the Carolinas traditionally has never been a football state (not during my lifetime anyway), and the proximity to Ktown allows many of the natives here to cheer for a traditional football power house.

Northwest Ga here. My grandma raised me and her husband was a big UT fan, so it rubbed off on me as kid

My dad and my grandfather are/were truckers. When I was a kid the laws were less strict and I use to jump in the truck with them and go everywhere. I got my first Tennessee hat when I was 5. My favorite color has always been orange. My grandfather and I were on our way to Virgina with a load of tires and we stopped at a truck stop and when we went in I spotted an orange hat. At first he wouldn't buy it for me but after I pitched a fit and threw myself in the floor like any good kid would do he gave in and bought it. He said he wished he had never bought it because all I did for the rest of the trip was say the letters T E N N E S S E E over and over again. Needless to say once I started learning about football UT was the team I fell in love with.

i actually reside in Budapest, Hungary. Grew up in NC, dad played @ TN and grew up in Mountain City, TN.

It's in the blood, east to west, north to south. I watched the VOL-Ducks game until 5:30am on my computer through the **** that is ESPN 360 (or whatever they call themselves these days). therefore, not only did my team lose, i also had a migraine due to the blurred stream!

BTW, for all you fans out there; When we played the Gators during our championship run, I was in attendance. I believe we had not beaten them in 6-7 years. Long story short, the game went into overtime. The Florida kicker badly missed the OT field goal. I caught that ball! Usually, as in all of college football, you have to throw the ball back. However, by time i realized that i caught the ball (loads of Wild Turkey at play) the field was full of 100,000+ nutty UT fans. I ended up running to a security guard whom escorted me down to the locker room. I got everyone to sign the ball (Peerless, Jamal, Fulmer, etc.), listened to the victory speech (with loads of recruits in attendance), got to throw the ball around on the field afterwards....man what a night. Still have the ball (even though i was offered a nice lump sum).

Only at Tennessee. Man I love it.

Stay the course. Weeks come and go, years come and go, but i will always have a story that draws me back to the great Orange & White checkers...just like most of you.

No one in DC gives a flip about college football. Recently moved to Huntsville, AL which appears to be a "who's who" of southern schools with decent/good engineering departments.

Even with the Bama Bandwaggoners I'd say Auburn is the primary fanbase around here. I'd suppose it's that Auburn has a larger and better engineering department than Bama has.

I was at that game too....Section DD row 4! Never will forget that night!!

Born in Tennessee grew up in the Metro Atlanta area then went to grad school at UT in '98-'00. Moved to a bunch of different states over the years but always end up back in the ATL....close enough to Knoxville to head up for a few games every year! I think the largest amount of UT fans outside of Tennessee live in the Atlanta area, I'm always amazed that wherever I go in this town there is an ORANGE T on someone's car!

Grew up in Sparta went to TTU in Cookeville. From 2001 - present I've been to Hunstville AL, Atlanta, Birmingham, back to Cookeville, now to Evansville IN. I still get home every chance I get. Nothing quite like TN in the fall.

I live in Tennessee now but spent my whole life prior to college living outside of TN. I've run into quite a few Vol fans in North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Germany, and England.

I've lived in SC most of my life. During the summers in high school (early 90s) I attended music clinics at UT. During the fall I'd come up to football games, and I was hooked. I tried out for, and received, a music scholarship to UT, but chose to go into something else. My brother attended UT and I'd spend most weekends with him on campus (he lived in Hess). Where I live in upstate SC, TN isn't much further than SC or Clemson, and there are plenty of UT fans around here.

But was just born and raised in North West Tennessee.
Retired from military and now live in Florida.
Surprisingly there is a nice fan base here with a couple local places actually showing the Vol games.
Almost feels like home.
No matter where I was I always took the Vols with me.
GO VOLS!

Dad's last duty station was Fort Campbell where I went to High School. If you live on base, you can get in-state tuition in either Tennessee or Kentucky and the girls were prettier in Knoxville so I became a Vol. I was Army ROTC, spent 23 years in after graduation and took my Vols ball cap to the field and every deployment. Unfortunately my folks left the state and moved to Florida before I retired so we opted to retire from the Army in Pennsylvania near the in-laws. There are several Vols up here but I haven't found a bar I can convince to change the channel away from Penn State, so we're still looking for a meeting place!

Born and raised in Kingsport (DB alum)
Then went to Tennessee 03-07.
Moved straight to Charleston after college and have been mixing it up with the beach and the ladies down here since.

Lots of Clemson, USC, and Dawgs down here...gotta deal with the Cocks fans thinking they are a better program than us.

But we have a really good group of Vols down here so I am not all alone!

By the way, my daughter graduated from UT in December and bought a house in N. Knoxville, so we've replanted the family in the area and are looking for a little cabin in the Smokeys. . .
