I don't know if anybody has noticed but UT coach Phillip Fulmer has been wearing shirts and/or attire with black as an accent stripe.
I heard on one of the radio talk shows that some [big city] marketing firm has told the UT Athletic Dept. that using black as an accent color will help create new fans. They also said that although the base, life long fans might not like the black accent much they will still remain fans and that there will be an overall net gain in the fan base.
Well, the marketing firm is right. I don't like it much. UT's colors are orange and white - not orange, white, and black as the UT Athletic Dept. actions seem to suggest.
I wonder if the marketing firm that they're listening to is the same marketing firm that told them to put the 4" wide stripes down the leg of the pants for the 2003 vols.
