I don't know if anybody has noticed but UT coach Phillip Fulmer has been wearing shirts and/or attire with black as an accent stripe.

I heard on one of the radio talk shows that some [big city] marketing firm has told the UT Athletic Dept. that using black as an accent color will help create new fans. They also said that although the base, life long fans might not like the black accent much they will still remain fans and that there will be an overall net gain in the fan base.

Well, the marketing firm is right. I don't like it much. UT's colors are orange and white - not orange, white, and black as the UT Athletic Dept. actions seem to suggest.

I wonder if the marketing firm that they're listening to is the same marketing firm that told them to put the 4" wide stripes down the leg of the pants for the 2003 vols.

UT has wore black cleats for awhile. They wore white ones in 03 or 04 but have since went back to black. Alot of players wear black sweatbands on gamedays too. The sweatsuits given out to players are black and the stuff with the Outback Bowl logos on it are black with orange T's on it

Wasn't it just last Fall when Fulmer and the coaching staff were wearing completely black shirts and what not with orange and white as the outline/border/accent colors?

I assume that would be a net gain in female fans.

They are the only ones who might pick their favorite team based on what color their uniforms are.

Black makes you look thinner. And we all that when it comes to Phil and (insert tired fat joke here)...

I have no problems w/ it as long as they don't go overboard w/ it.

I like having black for men's teams, that way no one gets them confused with the blue of the Lady Vols. It is an excellent choice for a third color, and works well with orange.

well thats a fleece and could be a gift. Many of the freebies they get from bowl games are not only orange/white. They get some pretty cool stuff though

Im workin on him lol... iv already converted these 2 little girls from a die hard gator family that go to my church(talk about pissed off parents lol)... i can understand why some people would like fla for their colors tho somtimes i hate it that i have to hate blue and orange

I cant see tennessee football having black jerseys, or even black in them, but i would say that an all black mens basketball uniform would be nice as a alternative jersey!

Black is already a third color. Black cleats. Black sweatbands when the football team is on the road. It's something the whole team does is wear black sweatbands on the road and white ones at home

The trim around the numbers on the away jerseys are black. The world will not end if UT has some black on their jerseys

Id love to see Black uni's as a special thing here and there, like the greens of ND... Otherwise, I do like a little mix of black to the colors... As stated, its already a part of all men's uni's exept the Men's football home.

would you want to see a black football jersey? i could understand a black road jersey for basketball, but not wearing orange at home for football would just be wrong in my opinion
