Vols flip Gooch from AUB!

This has nothing to do with his size. He hasn't had the easiest upbringing and has issues unrelated to football. I hope the kid figures it all out.

Did anyone notice the OP's article was last updated in August of 2020? I guess it was breaking news before last season started.
The title itself indicated there were some rings in the bark.

So UCF's 2020 oline is the maximum size of lineman cable of executing blocking schemes Heupel's offense?

Citation please.

Ask Heupel. Obviously he and his staff feel Gooch isn’t the best fit. Common sense would dictate that he is too big and slow.

If a guy doesn't work for our new systems then he needs to go somewhere else where he fits better.

That'll open up a spot for us to go get a different guy that does fit well with when we're going to do.

That's basic addition by subtraction which all smart coaches use.

Now, lets all sing "Rocky Top' and get happy!

VFL...GBO!!!

Different level of ball being played, and a different set of expectations.

For instance, we crucified Butch Jones for losing at South Carolina by 3 in his best season. Matt Campbell lost by 17 to the Rajun Cajuns this year. At home. The Big12 isn't really a power 5 quality conference, and their annual OOC drubbings and losses against FCS opponents essentially make that irrefutable. He deserves credit, but Iowa State would be lower than Vandy in the SEC. Otherwise, he's gifted 3 conference wins against 3 of the worst programs in D1 with Kansas, Kansas State, and Baylor.
You should never bring up FCS opponents!! The SEC is just as bad as the Big12 when scheduling these "sisters of the poor." The P5 conferences should only schedule other Division 1 opponents. I wouldn't walk across the street to see UT vs. Tennessee Tech; let alone pay money for it.

If Gooch is "too big" for our offensive line, then what type of line are we trying to build?
An effective one

Nebraska's lineman were not that tall under Devaney and Osbourne. Please provide heights as an example; you won't find many.

Here are the offensive linemen on the 10-2 1982 Nebraska football roster and their heights

OT Mark Behring 6-7 280
OG Hank Grimminger 6-4 271
OT Jeff Kwapick 6-3 254
OT Mike Mandelko 6-1 250
OG Scott McLaughlin 6-3 270
OT Tom Morrow 6-4 250
C Brad Muehling 6-0 212
OT Scott Raridon 6-4 266
OT John Sherlock 6-3 260
OG Dean Steinkuhler 6-4 257
OT Randy Theiss 6-3 256
OG Anthony Thomas 6-3 285
OT Mark Traynowicz 6-6 265
C Dan Weed 6-2 200

Not all that tall; are they??

If he is being encouraged to look elsewhere by UT because he doesn’t fit the new offensive system, I guess all the ‘commit to the school, not the coach’ posters will be out in full force condemning the coaches for getting rid of a guy who was apparently committed to the school. Also, apparently the talk in the first presser of ‘we adjust our system to our players’ rings a little hollow now.
