Vols first round opponent LBSU...

The we should beat LBS fairly esily makes me nervous. Again I will admit my knowledge of bb is limited, but I know that every year some LBS type team beats someone they're not supposed to. This is crazy, but I'm nervous and excited about bb. Actually more than I get for fb. I guess it's because I feel comfortable in football but this tourny stuff has me nervous as (in my best cpf voice) heck.

As bad as UT plays on the road, any away game shouldn't be taken lightly.

This is the dreaded #5 vs #12 matchup. It's a given one 12 seed will upset a 5 seed it happens every year.

UT is a young team playing an experienced team. Teams with lots of seniors and juniors usually go deeper in the tournament then inexperienced teams do.

On a positive note, LB State RPI is 80, pretty high for a 12 seed. Arkansas another 12 seed is 35. I would much rather be playing LB State.

I know that on paper LBSU is a better draw than arkie. But I saw how we handled the hogs and we KNOW the hogs. The unknown is both exciting but casusing me to be nervous.

LBSU is not SEC caliber. Not even lower SEC. Think instead of a senior laden SoCon team... Played together alot, shoots pretty well, defends pretty well, does little great.

Ramar and the Crews/Chism connection should enjoy beneficial matchups...

Tennesse can handle this team. On any floor.

I love the optimism guys, BUT anyone remember Weber State beating UNC?? Princeton beating UCLA?? I think we are poised to make a Sweet 16 run, but I am not putting ANY game in this tourney in the bag. Remember we have two different teams, the one that got beat by South Carolina 81-64 and the one that BLEW OUT Vandy 84-57. The SC game was on the road and the Vandy game was at home, but it should have made no difference to the team but it did. If Jujuan Smith can keep the ball under control, Dane can get the ball to Chism and Crews effectively, and Lofton doesn't shoot 30% we will have a good tourney. Go Vols!!

Well consider this. Tennessee is an 8pt favorite. Every other 5/12 game has a spread of between 1.5 and 2.5...

If you are dying to pick a 5/12 upset, look to VaTech/ILL. or Butler/ODU...

Sure, anything can happen. But honestly, it won't to us in round one.

i'm kind of with you on this OWH.

obviously, it's a 1 game at at time type deal with the tourney...but i totally agree with you on the other 5/12 matchups, in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if both of those 12's won.

and while UVA isn't awful, they are by far the most benign co ACC reg. season champ i've probably ever seen.

the South Bracket could be good to us should we get thru the 1st two rounds. Sweet 16 should be a reality this year.

and man, if it's OSU and us, what a game that would be....Oden though scares me more now than he did in Jan...a different player today.

but either way, the South Bracket is by far the easiest bracket. A&M may cause the most problems for anyone that plays them.

In my picks, the Vols lose to A&M in the elite8. Yes, it's a reach. I simply didn't have it in me to pass on a chance to put the boys through...
yeah.....i got 'em losing in the sweet 16 to OSU. the game in Jan aside.....we have no answer for Oden.

UT plays terrible on the road, and this is a road game.
I choose an alternate reality. This is an NCAA Tournament game. And the majority of our starters have now done this before. I deposited my negativity on the doorstep of the day after the OT loss to LSU.

Think fresh. The future is now.

Gotta like that we will not face a decent big man until the sweet sixteen. Not saying we're getting there, but this tournament is all about matchups and these favor our style.

I agree it was a very good draw. Long Beach St is the weakest 12 seed, Virginia is the weakest 4 seed, and UT has already played OSU close before. The only question mark is playing on a neutral site.:ermm:
