Think about that for a moment...the 2nd best record in the toughest conference. We were also 2nd in points scored. It wasn't the year we all wanted but far from where we were just a few seasons ago. If the rumors are true, we have a chance to hire some great coaches. Team 121 will also have some good returning players that can compete with any team, not named Alabama in the SEC.

Vols finished in a four way tie for the fifth best record in conference play. Sweet. Can't believe some people want change.

Four teams with better SEC records. Three more teams match our SEC record.

4 seasons and nothing to show for it. I was for him until he squandered an east title to South Carolina.

Some people will always see the positive and others will always see the negative.

The funny part is that those that view all the negative sides say they are realists and that those that like to see a possible bright future are dumb sheep. I prefer to enjoy my life and enjoy the season. I feel being unhappy about others results are very hypocritical when we look at our own lives.

Sure CBJ wasn't the best and made mistakes but he shows how much he cares and does make attempts at getting better almost every off season.

Also, we had a negative point differential in conference play. We won 9 games with 7 at home and 2 neutral site games in state. A Hail Mary away from 0-4 on the road. Must have just been too young.

Some people see a problem and want to see it fixed. Win more games and I'll enjoy the season. As for Butch's "attempts" to get better, they haven't worked thus far. This may very well be his last offseason to make major changes and improvements.

Everyone was cheering his offseason changes last year and on paper it looked like a home run..it could have been injuries or new scheme but we won't know until next year if Shoop was a good or bad hire.

Also to add:

I honestly think that some fans would be upset if we went 11-1 because CBJ would have succeeded.

This is absurd. I would argue that us so called negavols want to win more than anyone, which is why we have such a low tolerance for incompetence from a coach who has a very talented roster and competes in a division that was the weakest it's been in 2 decades, and still managed to choke it away by losing to 2 bottom feeders like USCjr and Vandy.

Badly worded title..we won more games than every other SEC team not named Bama..Florida also won 9 but we beat them head to head.

JMHO, but conference record means more than overall record. You want to win your conference.

Here is the thing. We won exactly as many games as most realistic people thought. 9-10 wins was the rela benchmark. Honestly we should have won 10 but oh well. We won 2 really big games we needed (UGA and FL) and lost 2 we shouldn't have (USC and VU) honestly i take that trade this year. Because the importance of winning those 2 games actually meant something in the recruiting trail. Losing to South Carolina and Vandy sucked bad. It really did but it didn't affect recruits as much as winning in Florida and Georgia.

You have proof of this statement? We did fall out on some recruits late. Who's to say those two losses weren't the reason why?

and people act like Vandy was 1-11..they also beat Ole Miss and Georgia and lost to Auburn 23-16, those teams are just as talented as we are. We lost to USC because Dobbs stayed up studying and our leading RB quit.

There is never, ever an excuse for losing to a 6-6 vandy tbh.

Ole Miss finished last in the west. Georgia played a freshman QB under a new coach. No comparison.

like Catbone said. there is no excuse for losing to Vandy..but yet you are making excuses for every team but ours...we had 1 DT in that game they sold out to stop the run and our DBs couldn't make plays
