So, I think every avid Vol fan has shared their .02 cents on every reason why the Vols suck now. We need some kind of group therapy to rehabilitate ourselves as fans. What do we do as Vols fans? How can we continue to cheer for a losing team and a team in decline?? I need help answering my own questions. I've accepted Phil will always be here until he dies from a heart attack.

Vol fans that are confused and need peer support please bound together and lets get help. We have been battered and abused as fans for way too long. Let's begin the healing process before we all go crazy.

Sincerely,
-ivtec_jrod

My therapy would be to take Fulmer out to the woodshed with a razor strap.........:post-4-1090547912:

We need to meet at Mons Venus. This would solve a lot of problems and release a lot of frustrations. Just my .02 cents.

When my ex-husband and I separated, I told my young son he didn't have to have a reason to love his dad (he was defending every move my ex made, partly to justify his loving him, ya know?) Now I use my own advice. I don't have to have a reason to love the Vols. I just do. This year sucks, but I still love them and always will.

Hi, my name is Justin and I am a Vol fan. It all started when I was young, football seemed cool, I liked orange, I guess I just didn't know any better. In 1998 I was a senior in high school, we won the championship, I decided to go to UT, cause it was only going to better from there right? From 99-01 we had for the most part some great times. I guess I just never realized I was addicted cause it was still so much fun. It wasn't until we lost to LSU in the '01 SECCG that I thought I might have a problem. I lived the next 3 years in denial, but in 2005 we kept losing and I just kept watching. Since then my behavior towards the team has changed, and it has seeped into my personal life. The friends and family I used to enjoy Saturdays with hardly speak to me anymore, I tell myself they are going through the same pains I am, but sometimes I just don't know if it's really worth it. My girlfriend tells me that I know they suck, so why do I let it get me down so much. Then I get defensive and tell her that she doesn't understand. She wasn't there when we won back to back SEC titles. I know I need help, but I don't know where to turn, and now Alabama is in the title picture and it just makes me feel worse about it, but I still can't stop.

The problem....Too high expectations from the start of the season. The answer ......Wake up.

I don't think that 9-3 or 8-4 was too high an expectation. We were supposed to have the best o-line and secondary in the league, and won the east last year. I'd say most of us had reasonable expectations, I don't think anyone seriously thought we were NC contenders or anything.
