Just confirming the inevitable. Lofton is only available in an emergancy situation.... No, I don't think that includes "we're getting our ass kicked"...

Tennessean:Lofton...No
Coach Bruce Pearl said Lofton again would be available only in an emergency situation and that he doesn't expect the Southeastern Conference's leading scorer to play against the Gators. It would be the fourth straight game Lofton has missed since spraining his right ankle against South Carolina on Jan. 20.

"He's really close," Pearl said. "But right now, we're planning on playing without him."
Lofton dressed for Tennessee's 82-71 victory over Georgia on Wednesday and went through pregame warm-ups. He also went through the final portion of team practice Thursday and worked out afterward on coming off screens and shooting.
"He really hasn't had a hard go (in practice)," Pearl said. "I'm just waiting for the trainer to give me the thumbs-up. We don't have it yet."

JaJuan Smith has picked up the scoring load in Lofton's absence. He's averaged 22.5 points in his last four games and managed 22 against Georgia on 10 shots.
"JaJuan's been patient," Pearl said. "You haven't seen him try to do too much. You haven't seen him turn the ball over. He's been working hard, but taking what's come his way. He hasn't forced the issue."

Emergency situation. If not getting ass kicked does it mean helping out the disabled if a fire breaks out? Dang, we're going to miss him, again.

Smart move to not use him. The is the least winnable game on the SEC schedule for us, percentage wise. No sense in him going out there at 80%, re-injuring himself and not having him available for games that we can and need to win.

Might as well try and stay positive. We sure can't throw in the towel yet after the last performance. Jujuan stepped right into Lofton's shoes the past 4 games averaging 22.5 per game. Still not Lofton, but I think he stepped up in a big way. Ramar scored a career high 21 against the dawgs. We are still playing well. Can we beat FL? Yes. Doubtful, but the chance is there.

I understand that the vol faithfull like myself are upset with recent performance losing 5-7 not discussing the absence of lofton. But on the positive side without lofton in the heat of sec play if the vols can learn to perform and produce a competitive game without chris this will mature the young team and make it that much more of a plus when lofton can return 100%.
