Unfortunately I think you are right. I have always been a "Die-Hard" Fulmer and Chavis fan, but it may be time.:cray:

What happened to Chavis since 2001? That '01 game against Florida in which Travis Stephens ran for over 200 yards the defense was great. Where did those type players go?

Chavis needs to contact Jim Schwartz or Dave McGinnis from the Titans for some defensive advice. I know the Vols used to (or still do) have a working relationship with the Titans on getting advice.

Do you guys honestly think that men that have been coaches for 20+ years and have been successful and admired for their success at some point in their career have suddenly forgotten the fundamentals of football. While the offensive and defensive strategies may have past them by, the fundamentals of tackling, catching, blocking, etc. never change. I would put money down that 95% of the players would say that they are not doing as instructed as a reason for their performance as of late.

If that's the case than it really is a coaching issue.

The Vols are experiencing the same as aTm. Poor D, questionable coaching staff, and dissappointed fan base. I see new coaches for both on the horizon, but guys look at this way.... your NOT in ...lets say...South Bend.

Im a realist. Its not that bad, both of my teams are gonna finish over 500 and have to re-start next year. New coaches?...maybe for the Vols. My Aggies are too hard headed to admit their mistakes. Its a Texan thing you know?

you've been peddling this notion that poor play on the part of the PLAYERS somehow excuses the staff for poor preparation, teaching, motivating, leading....you know, all the stuff that coaches are supposed to do.

The coaches know proper tackling technique. The players are taught how to tackle. People's inferences that the coaches arent teaching them how to tackle is ridiculous. The players have to execute what they are taught. Now, if the drills and exercises they are using are not working (which is the case right now) then yes it is the coaches job to change the drills, come up with new drills, or place more of a punishment on players who do not execute the proper tackling techniques being taught during the week. The coaches on the defensive staff know proper tackling techniques and to imply otherwise is just ridiculous. But, it is obvious at this point that they need to change the process for teaching them.

And you've been peddling this notion that poor play on the part of the players somehow is just the coaches fault and excuses the players from catching, tackling, blocking, etc.. you know all the stuff they are supposed to do.

So if you go into your office and repeatedly fail to do what your superiors ask of you, would you continue to work there or would you be looking for another job? If your employer were brain dead and senile, then you may have a shot at staying on board, otherwise. . .

I guess we see the point you are trying to make. But it is not very applicable to this situation.
