A list of those that don’t want the Vols to win today:

NCAA Selection Committee
CBS/ESPN graphics department who already have their brackets made up and don’t want to work.
SEC’s Greg Sankey (no win situation if he has to defend either Florida or Tennessee not getting a #1 seed).
Joe Lunardi who claimed all week that this game should be for a #1 seed and then flipped his thinking.

I saw an article earlier this week that said the selection committee was waiting to see who wins to determine who would get the last number 1 seed. Now they seem to be walking that statement back. No one on the committee expected Tennessee to be in a position to win the SEC tournament. My thought are; Florida won against Tennessee in Gainesville, Tennessee won against Florida in Knoxville. If Tennessee wins today they will be 2 and 1 against Florida. Why shouldn't Tennessee get the remaining number 1 seed if they win today?

At the end of the day, we are in a no lose situation today, though a SEC championship would be nice.

A two seed should place us in Lexington and then Indy for the first two rounds. Plus, we will be in Houston’s bracket. I don’t care for one of the prognostications of TN potentially playing Arkansas in the 2nd round but…

A one seeds means we must travel a but it’s a one seed.

At the end if the day, sit back and enjoy the game and don’t worry about the outcome.

We’re in Lexington next weekend no matter what happens today.

martyr seems too strong a word here.
Nathan Hale was America's martyr...at least one of them.

I am more worried about the comitte screwing the SEC with early matchups designed for us to knock each other out. I am also concerned that the referees will not "let them play" quickly, eliminating the physical teams, which are mainly SEC. Both situations could affect the Vols.

I understand your point about Sankey, but if UT wins and gets a 1 seed it gives juice to the SEC tournament in the future, as it dispels the narrative, so many of us have shared, which is that the lead conferences on our waist of energy because they don’t count. If Tennessee were to win and get the number one seed, I think it helps get more credibility to conference tournaments. If they continue to be situations where teams win the tournament, they don’t receive any sort of reward from the selection committee, at some point, the top rated teams are going to start treating them like a joke.

The answer is obvious. Teams went 1 - 1 during the regular season. Playing to win the rubber match, plus the SEC Tournament Crown. It's as simple as switching us to the No. 1 seed slot that Fla. is in now, and switching them to the No. 2 slot we're in. Let's see, that would take about 10 seconds to complete. So yeah, why shouldn't Tennessee get the remaining number 1 seed if they win today?

Gaaaahhhhh, this is the one thing I hate about college BB about 1/2 through the conference schedule, we tune down basketball in favor of this "Which Seed are We Getting" braketology bull crap. Week after week after week after week of "we deserve" and "they don't" and this experts prediction. Then the constant flow of snowflake threads like this one where we whiiiine about ESPN, we whine about the refs, we whiiiine about the SEC commissioner on and on week after week. Thankfully the SECT is over and the NCAA has chosen a bracket!

Can we now get back to the business of playing BASKETBALL!?! We have a bracket. If we are all that the great conspiracy has been trying to hold down, then we should be able to roll right through to the Final Four!!! Let's GBO ... Crush the mighty Woooford Terriers!
