I think maybe.

Really, quite possibly the best college baseball team ever assembled. Say it with me. Quite Possibly the best college baseball team ever assembled. Just Wow

I know, I know......Rat Poison right?

It's not just me, everyone is jumping on the band wagon now.

How the numbers show that the Tennessee Vols have the greatest college baseball team of all-time

Don't want to be a pessimist, instead a realist: long ways to go before we can start tossing these claims around. Remember the LV's were ranked fourth at one point this past season before their weaknesses were exposed. Not saying we have any pronounced weaknesses, but I'm still not convinced of our defense at second, third, and catcher. But our pitching is off the charts phenomenal - I see no weaknesses there, anywhere. And our offense has a nice blend of power and speed. Best of all time? TBD.

Yes, rat poison. While it's fantastic that our team is getting more national recognition and attention, it's still only midseason, and there's A LOT of baseball left including postseason. It's best to just focus on one game at a time and then reflect back after the season is over.

Just enjoy the ride. 😊

Let's not forget the basketVols, they were Jekyll and Hyde all year. One game they look like world beaters, the next game they can't hit the backboard with the ball. Let's get to Ohama (thanks, Peyton) with these same stats before we start this "Best Ever" nonsense.

This is not something you should be posting as your 16th message, need to pull the reins

Killjoy perspective: We are very, very good. But our numbers are also very, very skewed. Beating Vandy by 4, 3 and 5 in a road sweep says a lot - that's the sort of series that should define this team so far, and as much fun as it is to bash Vandy, they're a heck of a program of late and winning like that means something. Beating an 0-24 Iona team by a combined 65 runs says not so much. We've got some other stat-padding floating around too, like Rhode Island. I don't think this team is real likely to start believing their own press, that doesn't worry me. I think they're pretty dialed in to the fact that if we keep playing to our potential then what we can accomplish this year can be really, really special.

Yep, it's midseason we can't even spell Omaha much less best ever to get there.

OK OK OK

I probably could have worded it differently, that has become painfully obvious by now.

However in my defense I said the following things AFTER I put three ??? in the title of this thread.

I said..........."I think maybe" then I said "Quite Possibly"

Then I said "I know, I know......Rat Poison right?"

I closed out by saying it wasn't just me saying this , but by lots of folks, including the Massey Ratings bean counters. Here is the info that was in the original link I posted Massey Ratings - College Baseball Top Teams 1945-2099

Like I said, I probably could have worded it better, but perhaps some of you guys comprehension skills and not my bad intention ills are at play.

I'll just say this,,,,,, If they float on water, have web feet, waddle, and schitt thru feathers they are probably ducks. Calling them crows or not talking about them at all doesn't really make a quack to me.

but like I said, duly noted

Consider the source. A-Z Sports are Vol homers. I appreciate their fandom, but WAAAAAAAY too early to even mention GOAT even in jest.

I admit a bit of a band wagon Vol baseball fan but I did go to a lot of games when I was on campus watching RA Dickey and Todd Helton. I remember listening to the Vols in Omaha vs Clemson on the radio as it was not televised. Or at least we didn't get that channel.
I am not going to say best team ever but I wonder if looking back at this pitching staff, when several of them are in the majors, we might say we had one of the best pitching staff's ever in college baseball. Talk about an embarrassment of riches on the mound.

I said this in an earlier thread. If, and it's a big if, they continue like they have to this point then they are the best ever!

To even be considered, I think most would agree that they’d have to win the SEC, win the SEC tournament and win the CWS. That would at least put them in the conversation. Anything short of that, no.
