Vols BCS title game chances.

We lose our 3 top receivers, 3 starting DBs, we're thin on the d-line and we couldn't run the ball against thin air, but our biggest problem is playcalling?

BRILLIANT

Key Acronym: S.O.S.

yeah, Same Ol' S**t

it's playing not to lose instead of not playing to win. CPF coached with a killer instinct against Cal, then promptly went back to the same conventional, predictable style he's known for.

I think CPF is putting together a good staff for 2007 though and I think if he can resort to the same intensity as the Cal and Georgia game. The Vols can win a lot of games next year.

Is there a difference between the 2006 staff and the 2007 staff?

That analysis was weak. Sure, there were some questionable play-calls but I would say that they were few and far between. That was HARDLY our biggest problem...I wouldnt consider it a problem at all. And injured starters we're getting back...um, Fellows? He will definately help but wont make THAT much of a difference.

Playcalling lost the UF and LSU games in '06

I can see that for the UF game...but if our o-line could block just a little more I think we would have won.

The Lsu game, though, I dont think so. Ainge being healthy and playing that game would have kept our defense on the field less then the 40 minutes they did play. Then they wouldnt have gotten worn out like they did in the 2nd half when Lsu scored the majority of their points.

Tennessee's chances of playing in the national title game are roughly the same as the odds of me winning the Powerball tonight.

Our chance in 98 was small too. Not saying we'll do it but it is college football where there is always a surprise each year. But having said that, now I'm not even going to out and buy a Powerball ticket. Why bother. Thanks Hat!

The author hit it on the head, playcalling. Playcalling lost the UF and LSU games in '06.

I don't think playcalling cost us the Florida game. Every big play we had to get that ten point lead was a microsecond away from being a big Florida play. Continuing to play aggressively was eventually going to hurt us. I thought our best chance was to kill clock and let our defense hang onto the lead. I rarely feel like that's a good idea, but in the Florida game, Ainge was getting destroyed in the backfield. If we kept throwing the ball every down, something disastrous was going to happen.
